LIFE ON THE DRY LINE:Working the Land 1902-1944, by Harry Morgan Mason. Has some good stories about using and mechanicing on older John Deere tractors and equipment. Morgan"s father owned a garage and the local JD dealership in WaKeeney, Kansas. Has lot"s of stories about early cars also. Tells a lot about early types of oil, gasoline, and tires as well as the innovations car and tractor manufactures made in the beginning. We"ve come a long way.

If you ever get the chance to read Plow Peddler by Walt Buescher, that's a great book too. Walt went to work in the Allis Chalmers AllCrop combine factory about 1935 riveting levers. Became a blockman in northern Ohio and eastern Michigan in the 40's if memory serves me right. Worked as a blockman til about 1975. Great stories that anybody in ag or especially ag sales should read. Hilarious stories and great insight in to human nature.

Walt was working in the AC marketing dept. in West Allis in the late 60's and early 70's. I visited him whenever I got near the main office. It was a 2-man dept.; his partner was "Abe" Lincoln. I knew Abe a little bit better than Walt.

I posted about "Life On The Dry Line" several months back". Glad to hear others liked it also. Plow Peddler is a great one too!
