What is this part for? On a Farmall Regular

Just wondering what this "bar" is for across the bottom of an old Farmall Regular. Is it just to protect the oil pan... or some other purpose?

It is an Under-Belly mount for the remote camera.
It worked really well for seeing if your front tires were pointing in the proper direction. :>)

I would think it would be for a front mount cultivator. That would be the only thing years ago that would be front mounted but I'm not 100% positive. I'm sure some one would have a parts book that may show that piece explaining what it is for. This is the only thing that comes to my mind.

I'm inclined toward the cultivator-mounting theory- if it was just a guard for the oil pan, why the hole in the center?

For me, it would be to pull myself around on the creeper when I was changing oil- then to forget about and bump my head on when I was getting up.

Dave in GA,

Yeppers... the most lichened-up tractor I have ever seen! Have more pics to post of it just because of the lichens - have to resize them first.

A different kind of head-banger. :)

Have to buy me a parts book for a Regular. We have the user manual - but I think I want a parts book too.

Bill Krosnicki,

Thanks for the info.

That is what an older gentleman told my husband years ago...we just wanted to verify if that was indeed what it was for.

Gee, a remote camera is yet another option we did not get on our Regular. I think we got rooked! LOL.

Sweet Feet, I for get if youy regular is a wide tread or a narrow tread tractor. If it is a wide tread it could be a part of a mounted corn picker, do not know if they would mount on a narrow tread or not. But then again you are a bit far north for corn but did it come from some place corn was raised?

I thought it was a plant hanger for a yard art tractor.

I took my bar into work about a week ago to straighten it back out. When I read your title I just had to see if this was the part you were referring to.

Its an oil pan guard 28358-B for the 221G/N221G cultivator. No.7 tooling (special) for hillside cultivation. Don't bother looking in the tractor parts book, these parts are found in the books that come with the cultivator. My F30 is equipped for a mounted picker and all the special parts are in the picker book and not the tractor parts book.

Leroy,
This bar is not on our Regular (ours is not narrow tread). This was just one we found in our wanderings recently - so I had to take some photos.

Well, I can see where one would work for a plant hanger... but don't think I could get away with that one (even if ours had this bar). :)
