OT: Camper Roof

Thanks for allowing the OT. I popped up my little camper and it has developed a leak in the roof. It has an aluminum roof with a seam down the center from front to back. That is about the only place I can see it would leak.

Any suggestions for some kind of coating or caulking that might seal it back up?

Thanks

I had to close up the roof of my motor home, when i removed the crank-up window in the roof. I bought some stuff at the local camper sale store, and it worked well. Not expensive. sort of flexible. fixed it. RJ

Wire brush the seam end to end. Use urethane door and window caulk (not silicon, not siliconized latex, and not painters caulk. Use plastic gloves to prevent getting it on you. Make the bead such that you can finger trowel it to 3/4" wide thickest over the metal lap. Jim

Don't use silicone or ANYTHING designed for use on a house. It will not work because it is not designed to bounce down the road.

Use a product designed for sealing up RV's. Dicor is the brand I use.

There is also a tape product called Eternabond.
