ROOSA MASTER DB/DB2 PUMP PROBLEM

HI I HAVE A 1982 ONAN D423L ENGINE W/ROOSA MASTER DB2 PUMP. ENGINE WILL START AND RUN FOR 15 SECONDS AND DYE OUT AND WILL DO THIS EVERY TIME, IF I CRACK THE BLEEDER OPEN IT RUNS FINE ALL DAY LONG AND SOME FUEL WILL DRIP OUT OF THE BLEEDER SCREW. WHEN THE ENGINE IS RUNNING NO FUEL IS COMING OUT OF THE RETURN LINE BACK TO THE TANK?? TRIED TO FIND INFO ON THE PUMP AND HERE AT THIS SITE THE PARTS PERSON HAS MANUELS FO A D PUMP AND A DC PUMP BUT NOT FOR DB2. DOES ANYONE HAVE IDEA ABOUT ENGINE PROBLEM AND OR HELP FINDING A MANUEL SO I CAN FIX IT? THANKS MARK
 
WISH IT WAS THAT EASY, TOOK THE RETURN FITTING OFF THE PUMP HOUSING AND THE TOP PUMP COVER THAT THE FITTING SCREWS INTO THINKING SOMTHING IS IN THE PUMP. NOTHING WAS IN PUMP STILL SAME PROBLEM. THANK YOU FOR YOU REPLY.. MARK
 
that fitting should have a clear plastic check ball in it---stuck or junk from internal failure has plugged it--pretty common. sub a regular fitting, with hose attached to tank--as said return line or fitting is plugged---
 
Most likely a plugged fuel return line somewere between inj pump injectors and tank.
I had a similar problem with a DB2, I found a small bee in the return fitting above the pump.
I have no clue how it got there.

As I previously stated check the fitting that return line attaches to on pump for blockage. If engine will un with bleeder open the check valve in fitting is plugged.
 
thanx tx jim and the other person that posted, that was the problem, i didnt know about the check ball was in there, it runs fine, i drilled out the fitting and it purrs like a kitten. you two were very helpful and once again thank you very much!!! mark
