He wants to trade for 3020...

I'm trying to sell a 3020 for an old retired gentleman. Had a dozen people look at it, seems nobody wants gas power, no power shift, center console. Got a guy now who wants it pretty bad, but wants to trade a Caterpillar QC25 forklift for it (4000 Lb. capacity). I'm asking 3900.00 for the tractor, thinking about dropping it to 3500.00. Can I get this much for the forklift? Would it be any easier to move than this 3020? Or just decline the offer? Thanks, Fritz

You are at a low price on the 3020. Don't take some unknown junk. Stay where you are.
Where ro you have ads?

I think 3900 is a pretty fair price for a gas 3020. That is a lot of tractor for under 4000. I paid around 5k for my diesel 3010 just last year. What kind of shape is it in? I agree to stay where you are at on price.

You are in the range for the 3020.

Not sure what the Cat forklift is but I picked up a Allis 4000 pound hard tire lift from the 60s for $500 a couple years ago.

If what this guy is wanting to trade is a all terrain lift it may be a good deal. If it is a hard tire warehouse machine probably not.

That seems steep for a 4000 lb. forklift, and they're probably harder to move than a tractor. Tell him to quick like a bunny sell his forklift, and bring the money on over. . .

Depends on if it has JD wide front, tires,# of scvs, lots of variables but under $4K doesnt buy much.I like selling what I know but if you have had a dozen lookers and it has not sold there is a reason and I assume it is price or condition

Seems to me that if you are selling for someone else they want the cash and not some other piece of equipment to sell. If it was me I say cash only, no trades.

I agree with others - Tell him to sell the forklift and bring the cash. Maybe he's been trying to dump the lift and can't get a taker. Unless it's a rough terrain lift, it doesn't have much value to anyone that doesn't have lots of smooth concrete to drive it on.

Thanks for the replies. That's something that never occurred to me... he might be having a hard time offing his forklift ( it is a warehouse model). Guess I'll just renew all the ads.

All your lookers must read this forum ? Seems like most all hate the gas JD'S. LOL

I sure like our gas 4020 for what we do.

Pretty sad when some will pay that much for an 8N.

Keep it advertised. Someone will need a cheap tractor to maintain a small place.

I work with forklifts and have bought a few to fix and sell. The problem with selling them is delivery. A small warehouse type person that is buying a used $3900 lift, usually cant haul it. And they are heavy on little wheels which break through averge trailers. Plus 3 stage masts are the most popular=$.

IF I were in the market for a 3020, I would WANT a gasoline engine. It is a MUCH better choice for light duty work such as blading snow, mowing a few weeds, etc. The gas engine will start in cold weather much easier than a diesel, and you can do pretty much all the maintenance work yourself.

Oh, just to stay on topic, I wouldn't even consider taking a forklift of any kind in on trade unless you personally had a use for it.
