Can I Accept Payment through Paypal with Buyer's Card Info

Hey guys....I just had a gentleman call me that wants a tractor part I'm selling. He said he only likes to pay with a card, so I told him I could take one thinking I could enter the payment in on my Paypal account. That is how I told him I'd do it at least. He mentioned that he doesn't know how to do all of that, so I said I should be able to. I am assuming he can search the internet, check email, etc....but probably doesn't have a PayPal account or know "how" to go through the process to get one. Aside, is it even required to accept his payment? How can I enter the information in to accept his payment? or can I even do that?

If you have a Paypal account you can send him a Paypal invoice to his email address and he can pay you through Paypal with a credit card online. Paypal will charge you a fee for the transaction.

But does he have to have an account, or can he complete the transaction "through the email" without having an account?

Can I just not do it since I already have his info? If not, I can call him back explaining he'll have to check his email to do it.

Yes, he can pay the paypal invoice even though he does not have a paypal account.

I've done it that way a few times.

Go to the Paypal website and look at receiving payments. He will have to pay through Paypal site but I don't think he has to have an account, if you send him an invoice through Paypal. I use Paypal a lot and never had a problem making or receiving payments. DH

I think I have figured out the problem....why the guy can't figure out Paypal.

I sent him a request for money, not the "invoice" option, but a "request for money". He called and said he spent 30 minutes trying to figure out how to pay and couldn't figure it out. Well I'm gonna loose a sale now because I told him he could pay by check but he said he'd think about it. Grrrr....well....don't ask why he is that way....IDK...makes no sense.

But now I think I have figured out what the problem is. He also told me he is intrested in another part to purchase, and saw one of them online but couldn't figure out how to pay for it either. WELLLLL.....I found the part he saw online and it had a (clear as day) Paypal "button" under it. I also sent Myself (to a spare email account) a "request for money" to see what it looked like on his end. It has the same paypal "button". When you click it, it has 2 options for you to pay with a Paypal account, or with a Credit Card.

Well.....I think his problem is that he is not able to see the paypal "button" therefore it doesn't exist and he can't figure out how to pay.

I might just go ahead and use his card info on the request I sent to my spare account to see if it will take it that way. I don't like doing things like that but I want the guy to get something he needs and me to make a sale ...so I can buy more tractor stuff! haha. What is the problem and how would you fix it on his end?

Do you use a smartphone?
Square can be cheaper than the PayPal fees. Square
Nothing to keep the buyer from cancelling his payment,
but then there's not through PayPal either really.

Doesnt Paypal offer a card reader device and service like the "square" you posted? I'm just scared to have something like that in fear the govment would be watching every little transaction I made and I'd be expected to claim them on taxes. Some one told me you have to give your social security number to sign up for the PayPal version, that is what scared me.

Thoughts???

PayPal does offer one similar to that.
The fees are higher for the PayPal version, plus a monthly fee.
I don't know about the SSN on the PayPal version since I don't use it.
Scary part on either is you have to have them linked to your bank account
so they can send you payments, and take them back if the buyer calls
VISA and cancels payment.
I suggest connecting either (and your PayPal account for that matter) to
a dedicated bank account.
I've never had anyone cancel a payment on me, but to be honest I rarely
use it. I know the majority of people in the US now days use plastic, but in
my circle most people still prefer to pay with cash or a check.
