Saw a 'Craigslist' add for a 4520 for $20,000.Clicked on it and expected to see a 'classic'125 hp 4520.What I saw was a relatively new small'estate' tractor!Got to wondering, how many other model #s are reused?how many mfgers use the same numbers? like IH706/MM 706? Steve

Steve, they reused '2520' also. I'd love to have another one- it's the handiest tractor I have on the place. I keep opening up the ads looking for a good machine, and keep seeing a lawnmower.....

JD reused 820 and 830 way back in the 70's, I think- I'm pretty sure I saw an 830 utility in about 1976 or so.

I have a 4010 compact utility- handy as the pocket on a shirt. Considerably more agile than its namesake.

And of course, the classic make and model no. confusion is the Oliver 550 and the Cockshutt 550. Totally different tractors. So far, so good. But among the Olivers that were also badged as Cockshutts were the 550 Olivers- so you had two totally different 550 Cockshutts. Usually refer to them as "550 Cockshutt Cockshutt", and "550 Oliver Cockshutt."

I don"t know why they need to re-use the same numbers. Seems like there are plenty of numbers in the alphabet.

What gets me is I've seen tractor numbers that have been used for other machinery too. Yes, Deere, I'm looking at you.

Yeah, like the venerable old 2 cyl. JD 530 is also a round baler!
