Water in hydraulic sysyem

Every time i leave my 706 out in the rain my hydraulic fluid looks like coffee with creamer. Have no idea where its getting in. Changed fluid twice this year. Any ideas?

If it shares fluid with the transmission, the gear shifter boot is a favorite place (even if it looks OK, they get weather checked and can leak). If hydraulic system is isolated from transmission, I'm all out of guesses.

Rain is almost always accompanied by a drop in temp and an increase in humidity causing condensation on many surfaces especially heavy iron including inside the cases of tractors. My forklift with 6cyl Continental always has milky oil in the crankcase unless I work it for an hour. I asked a forklift pro friend about it and he said that they all are like that and not to worry about it.

There really isn't an easy place for water to get into a 706. If you throw a light tarp over it to keep water off, and it still gets milky you could be sure it was condensation. Moisture is always a problem accumulating in the hydraulics and power train. I have a couple tractors in an empty barn and the frost on the outside of them tells you that you have the same inside.

When I had a Farmall H I changed the transfluid and took it into a oil change place for recycling. The guy saw it coming out of the bucket and said, "WHAT THE H*** IS THAT ???) I explained to him it was 30 year old fluid out of a tractor. He settled down and dumped it in the catch basin.

I use a tarp on my Muir hill tractor because I finally got th
water out and since I did that it never gets water in anymore
my john deere sits out all year and never gets water
thankfully.

I have an M5 MM that I changed the fluid and it kept getting water in it. The previous owner had put a small pipe extension on the filler elbow for the hydraulic. One day when I was using it there was water above the plug before I started it but had disappeared while it was running. Turns out the plug was steel and the pipe connector that it was screwed into was aluminum. After I changed that I didnt have anymore milky colored oil.

For you to make that post Mike!, you must be familiar with my older Allis's. I keep YT parts sending those new boots to me. Lousy material, and crack in 3 yr's.
