I have a 1986 Case 1896 that I am having problems with the remote. It will lift the implement up, but will not let it down. I have switch hose from one control valve to the other. Still, only one way usage. Any ideas on what the problem may be?

Place your question over on the Case forum. I'm sure some of the Case people can help you out.

If it only happens on this one cyl and you have not tried a different cylinder, the problem is in the male tip on the pressure side. If it happens with more than one cyl, does system go on high pressure when trying to lower imp. Does lever stay latched or jump back to neutral. If it stays latched you have a signal valve problem but I can't tell you exactly where to look for that. Also, if it is the male tip the lever will also not stay latched and will go back to neutral when trying to lower imp. Easy to tell if building pressure both way , just unhook hoses and see that lever latchs when tractor is not running, then start and it should not stay latch as pressure should kick it off to neutral.

2X what Pete 23 said. I had the same problem with a Case once but only with my mower. I had to feather the valve to get the mower to drop. Finally I mentioned it to someone and he told me that the tip was bad.
