just got a call from one of two banks i have loans [r-v] with, they ask for me, [yes], this is your bank, [yea, what bank], dummys act like they are theye only bank in the world, says wells-fargo, [ok], your line of credit, is past due, [don't have one with you], oh sorry, its a vehichle loan, telling me payment is past due, told them it isn't due till tomorrow, which i will be paying today, asked me if wanted to set up auto payment, [nope], will walk into bank & hand check, get reciept... not paying before money in account to clear check,,,bankers, get a life...

Things like that are why I like dealing with the old home town local bank, I can call from anywhere in the world to transfer money or tell them I will be using my debit card in a new location and the ladies working there recognize my voice and take care of whatever it is with no problem.

I agree, scammer trolling for your personal info. Bank would never call ahead of payment due date & they would have the info already. Best answer "give me your name & I'll come in to talk to you."
NEVER give anybody info over the phone unless you called them at their published number & you are 100% sure they are legit.

Was a few days late once with a mortgage payment when the loan was new (but not our first loan with them) and got a call but don't hear from them anymore. We deal with a home town bank for mortgages and such but my company owns a bank and do most of our business with them, just have to pop downstairs to the branch in the building if I have to do any face to face. Mostly use the internet for banking.

Had that happen a few years back. Call was from a
Wells Fargo office supposedly. Only problem was I never banked with them so I knew something was up when they wanted to correct my loan information. I called it into the local bank and they said they were having scammers making calls. Later on the news they said how many complaints they had that week. I had caller ID so I gave the number to the local bank and they checked it out. No branch or office at that number so we knew they were scammers.

Our small local bank never calls, unless I initiate it. I can also recognize their voices, so that helps. They may send a letter if necessaary for some reason or other. I just refuse to do business with the large multi state banks as they can really screw thing up. Also with all the new modern conveniences the small bank can do just about everything the large conglomerates can.

When this happens, ask the caller for his name and the extension where you can reach him at the bank's PUBLISHED number. If he refuses, he's a scammer.

A bank should never call before a loan is due and ask for personal information. If they truely need info they'll call you and ask to set up an appointment to meet. Any bank looking for info over the phone is a scam.

I agree- Probably scammers.

I'm with all the "keep it local" guys. My bank manager's kids and mine were classmates, and we watched a LOT of Little League and soccer games together. I know her voice, she knows mine. Not much room for scamming there.

Happened once to my dad. He told them he couldn't talk; but said to call him back in an hour. He went to the bank & handed the bank manager his cell phone. Sure enough the fools called back. I would have loved to hear that conversation, & how it ended!

Scammers-though I did have a young lady at my long-time insurance company b**** at me (ONCE!!) for making a payment ON the due date.

Guess what is going to be directly linked to your bank account, whether you want it done that way, or not??? one hint, 20,000 pages!

My bank is locally owned and advertises that It will never call you for personal info.

On e-tranactions, you have to know 3 things to get into the account.

I really really like e-banking. Never before could I keep tabs on my spending and reserves and never have to worry about whether or not I have the money to cover a purchase. Want to move money from where it's sitting to where you need it, just a click of the mouse 24/7. Transfer is immediate.

Besides that I just got a 3.75% real estate refi, with the management of the account the bank.
