Okay, my desktop has a wirelsss router which has worked fine for years. My laptop and the first wifes Kendall have received its wireles signal and both worked.

NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN THE DESKTOP INTERNET WORKS FINE,,,,,,THE KENDALL RECEIVES A WIRELESS SIGNAL AND WORKS FINE,,,,,,BUT THE LAPTOP WILL NOTTTTTTT LOAD AN INTERNET PAGE GRRRRRRRRR

Network Troubleshooting shows strong signal and YES I HAVE internet access on either system but laptop still wont load a page

Network troubleshooting and diagnosis says NO PROBLEM it shows connected,,,it shows Internet Access,,still no pages load. Ive re booted, uninstalled and re installed, re loaded drivers, updated, shows connected and access STILL NO PAGES LOAD

Kendall still receives wireless signal and works so Ima thinkin its NOT the wireless routers fault

So far on the laptop Ive tried an external USB wireless adapter (one that works that same laptop on computer in RV just fine), but still no net pages load, just keeps that circling symbol regardless if external or internal adapters (one or both) are receiving the signal.

I tried disabling and re boot re enabling the internal wireless and/or the externaal and NEITHER will make a web page load on the laptop

I tried to uninstall, reboot and reinstall and install drivers etc, still no web pages load

YES I turned off Firewalals and/or Anti Virus and still no pages load BUT KENDALL STILL RECEIVES SIGNAL AND WORKS FINE (tells me my wireless router must be okay)

Funny thing is one of my programs needed an internet update and I said yes and it downloaded files off net and worked and upgraded BUT STILL NO WEB SITES WILL LOAD just keeps circling n trying

WHY DOESNT THE LAPTOP LOAD AN INTERNET PAGE when the Kendall does and the desktop net is fine and laptop shows connected with internet access????????? I havent yet tried System Restore (to a day before when it worked fine) on Laptop, maybe I will

Im gettin mad here grrrrrrrrrrrrr

As the man/fly said to Vincent Price in the movie The Fly HELPPPPPP MEEEEEE HELPPPPP MEEEEE

only here for a minute - but

I'd say first try connecting to your router.

From a browser page on your pc - enter the router's ip address.

Usually something like 192.168.1.1

(so clear out any http:// stuff where you'd normally enter a web site address - and enter the numbers).

if you connect to your router (either a login page, or some kind of admin menu), it tells you something - and if you don't (error message), that tells you something else.

Unfortunately - that's all I have time to say.

if your router doesn't have the ip address printed somewhere on it - then from another computer google the router brand and you should be able to find it.

(router will have a local side and a network side - it's the local side ip address you want)

wish I had more time - but try it and somebody should be able to help you take it from there.

good luck

I tried it both ON and OFF when the other wireless USB adapter was being used. It dont work when ON and obviously doesnt when its off grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

What browser are you trying to use to access the Internet? Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome?
You probably have your preference but it might be worth a try to use another one.
This is what I do if I have a problem like that. That way if the other browser works I KNOW that it has the be my old browser messing up and I can 100% direct my efforts to it and not skip all over my computer trying to find the solution.

Sometimes things change (for whatever reason) on browsers on different computers.

Using IE, same and only one Ive ever used. Im gonna try System Restore first then I'll look at the browser thing.

Thanks

John T, this is kind of a long shot, but I see this come up as a problem
every so often.
Take a look in your internet explorer settings, on the connections tab
click the Lan Settings button. Another window will pop up.
Make sure on that window that the Proxy Server check box is NOT checked.

We had a similar problem with my daughter's system. Her laptop would not connect while other wireless devices did. Like you, I tried everything I knew. Finally called in an expert. After a couple hours of fruitless troubleshooting, he replaced the NETGEAR router with a different brand. Problem solved. We never did figure out why the router didn't like her laptop.

Mines a D Link Wireless Router BUT ITS WORKED PERFECT ON THAT SAME LAPTOP (still currently is on Kendall) UNTIL THE OTEHR DAY GRRRRRRRRRRR

Ive tried disconencting and re booting the router and the laptop to no vail

It did when we were in Florida a few weeks ago. IT WORKED HERE on my D Link until just the other day. The first wifes Kendall receives the signal and downloads web pages on my D Link, its just that the laptop suddenly quit loading pages but seems to download updated files for programs

That's pretty much what happened on my daughter's system. Her laptop worked just fine on my wireless, no-go on hers.

Its makin me ANGRY if all else fails (I tried some of the below) guess its time for a new router, mine is maybe 7 or more years old but why did it work till teh other day grrrrrrrr

FWIW John,

I have not had a piece of computer related equipment ever last beyond 4-5 years. On my third wireless router in the last 10 years here. Like yours they will be working one minute and causing wierd errors the next. Also like you, I have wasted quite a bit of time trying to find the issue before just replacing as a last resort. Starting to think the last resort should be the first priority in trouble shooting, but that kind of goes against the grain of us engineer/mechanic types.

Good Luck,

Kirk

John T My laptop would sometimes change the settings for for no reason. Here's what worked on mine most of the time:
go to wireless connections screen Look for "Change Adapter settings" right click and select properties...under network look for TCp/IPv4 click on it to highlight and the properties button should become active click on that and look to see that obtain IP address automatically and obtain DNS automatically are both checked. That worked several times for my laptop in several hotels across the country.

Type system restore in to search box in windows and follow instructions.Be sure you restore back to time before your problem started.

John, I had the same problem after a update. I kept getting a Dependency Group failed to start.

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_vista-networking/dependency-servicegroup-failed-to-start-cannot/a2cf9717-6c0d-47d9-ae2f-ee0263a5f880

Here is a link that helped me.

It took me hours to get my laptop working again

Click on "All Programs", Accessories" "System Tools" and click on "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)". This starts it without the add-ons like Flash etc. If it runs faster you can Click on "Tools" and "Manage Add-ons" and you can disable them to see which one is causing the problem.
You might also start in the "Safe Mode With Networking" and see if it will connect. Sounds like a virus or a rouge add-on.
