major repair

I know all lot of the farmers on the site here do so major repairs, but I did happen to do a very rewarding repair in pa,The neighbors grandma has trouble with her knees,so she uses her riding mower and wagon a lot to take her laundry to the clothes line ,and many other chores that she likes to do. Her wagon got a flat tire and her grandson was busy doing fieldwork so I fixed the flat for her,I know its not much of a repair, but it was the most rewarding repair I have ever done!
If I had my camera,I would have taken a picture of the smile on her face, then I would have taken a picture of the table full of homemade Pa dutch food she cooks each night for her grandson, which when I am there ,she insists I come into her house and join them for dinner. I wish I was better at typing and writing stories, because I am fortunate to be able to join in on thie country lifestyle, but it is hard for me to express in writing how much I enjoy all the things I see and do when I am there. We have been too busy to get a new camera, hoping to get one today at costco.

When I was in the welding business I used to love the old folks when they came in. I never made any money on them, but they were most always the happiest customers when they left. I did many old frying pans the were some old woman's grand mothers and the grand daughter dropped it and broke the handle. They were always in near tears when they came in and smiling from ear to ear when they left.

Ya done Good, Larry!

And, don"t them Grandmas know how to cook and like to see their company enjoy it?

You write just fine - -tell it like you see and FEEL it!

Take care!
John

Hi Larry, the greatest joy's in life is when you can take the time to assist/help a person when they have some sort of problem and how rewarding a SMILE AND HAND SHAKE can be to the person who completes the project. You will be rewarded many times for repairing the tire. Cheers, Murray

larry@stines,

That is a really neat story. Just think how that woman will remember your kindness each time she uses her tractor and wagon. She also gets to feel good because she provided a good meal for you. Pretty neat.

Look forward to more pics when you get a camera. I have some to post later today from our trip to the Le Seuer, MN swap meet yesterday. We took our 13 year old daughter along. It was really fun and we each brought home some treasure.

Larry nicely done! When you get the new camera make sure to take it with you when you are invited over to eat. That must be some spread she cooks up!

Larry it's your story so just tell it the way you see it.

The majority of us will understand and enjoy your story; the small minority of critics will never get the message.

Somewhere along the way while growing up, we learn to "<a href="http://payitforwardday.com/about/how-does-it-work/">pay it forward</a>" from folks with a lot of character.

Thanks for sharing your story with us.

Larry
sounds like you got as much out of helping as she did, great to get to see inside someones life thru the stories related by others, like yourself. Keep it up, hope you get your camera soon, miss the pics, Mark

I do a lot of repairs for older folks around my county. I know most can't pay in money. But I stay covered up in home made goods. I would rather have that than anything else. The older folks are the best.Respectful and are really glad that you have helped them.

Helping other is a good thing regardless of their age but it seems more rewarding to help those older than us. GOOD JOB LARRY!!!

You will always reap what you sow. So you just sowed some good will for your future.
