Use to be when I would click on a post on this site it would open immediately. About a week ago now when I click on a post it takes about 40 seconds for it to open. Or when I finally get it to open and I type a reply and click preview or submit reply it takes 40 to 60 seconds to do it. Or now in writing this if I click post message it takes 60 seconds for it to go to the next page. What happened and what can I do to fix it? When I click on these things that little blue ring just goes around and around for 40 to 60 seconds before it goes to next step. It is just this site that changed. Any help appreciated but keep it simple as I am not good with computer terminology.

Mine was doing similar things but seems to have cleared up for the most part now...don't know why!
Wish I could help, but at 70+ these things speak a foreign language to me!

Sounds like something is running in the background and hogging up your bandwidth. Check with your ISP support and have them guide you through what"s running in the background, and also your connection speed.

Jeff is on to it. If you have either a virus, or a backup system that runs when you are using the internet, it will slow your access to a crawl.
Malware, Worms, and Virus can all do it. Get a 20 year old relative to help! Jim

It might be a virus; but can also be a registry problem. I use a free program called "CCleaner" They will try & charge money for it; but there is a link that says "Download from Piriform" which is free below the donation box. Once downloaded run a registry scan; then click the "Fix All" tab. I never use the backup feature, & its never failed me. After fixing once; then scan a second time to make sure You get it all. It also cleans up Your cache, & deletes miserable cookies!

Click on "All Programs", Accessories" "System Tools" and click on "Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)". This starts it without the add-ons like Flash etc. If it runs faster you can Click on "Tools" and "Manage Add-ons" and you can disable them to see which one is causing the problem.

Mine was giving the same fits. I finally took it to the kids at Staples, suspecting a virus. No virus. They put something called an ad blocker on it. Works good now.
