REVISIT MASTER CYLINDER for DO MOR

JDSELLER was kind to put my pic of the DO MOR on here a couple days ago.
The DO MOR is a component tractor.
The master cylinder is probably off of some kind of truck. FK8 2 is the only number or name on it. Year would be near 1970s.

I have been given two different prices 750.00 and 500.00. It isn't more than 6-8 inches long and held on with 3 bolts.

The piston was siezed up on it. Those prices seem kind of high. Any help finding one is appreciated or finding what vehicle they are common with. Thank you michigan len
 
Can you get the piston out and rebuild the master cylinder?
Seems like it might be a whole lot cheaper if you can.
 
The rebuild parts are priced at 320.00. I forced the piston down and it is stuck there. One DO MOR owner said he can get parts for 200. , but they don't hold up long.
 
Take it to a salvage yard and let a counter person cross the numbers. If none, find a near same replacement and engineer a solution. The hydro boost components are pricy. Jim
 
If you plan to have this around to use for a while it may be time to bite the bullet and get a good one and then run new lines and everything else too as it may all be full of rust and will just work its way back up into your new/rebuilt master unit.
 
THE Hydro boost part seems to be working good and free--that is the part that is hooked to the brake pedal and it has a hyd. line coming from the power steering.
 
Can you post a picture of that offensive cylinder? SURE would help in figuring out what you have!

I am GUESSING it is larger than I was thinking, more like what would be used on a GM medium-duty truck. Or, maybe they were all 4-bolt?

Does it look anything like this industrial/forklift cylinder? (WAGNER FD4570-879)

Bob it looks exactly like your pic--triangle 3 bolt with a top fill. I will also get a pic.

An alternative might be to send it to an outfit that sleeves rare/antique brake cylinders with a stainless steel sleeve. Typically, they have ads in car collector magazines like Hemming"s.

Probably REAL pricey, but maybe a permanent fix?
 
Yup , that looks like a MICO ( Mankato, Minn.) master cylinder . Their biggest cusomer is the military, and their pricing reflects it . Alot of the ones we had on forklifts interchanged with common Wagner and Bendix cyl's. I'm thinking that mounting hole pattern was from Ford trucks in the early '50's Sleeving that one isn't real practical , it'll run you $100, then you are still stuck with the $320 for a cup and piston. The parts for the wagner are about $30 .....I'd find replacement cyl, and check the depth of the push rod before you install it, that will be different.
 
SHOULD HAVEa # on the side if you brush it up.Where are you located? Agood NAPA store could get off of #. Columbus Power Brake in Columbus,Ohio can cross it I:m sure.
 
DALEX If I find one that will fit and the push rod is different-----how do I work that difference????
 
Those prices are nuts.I paid 18 bucks for the last rebuilt cylinder for my 77 chevy truck.It looks a lot like master cylinders used on Fords 39 to 48.The aluminum piston will rust tight to the cast iron bore.Have a look at a 77 chevy part before you get robbed.
