Found this sweet little engine at the consignment auction today, Always wanted one but they always went high. Picked her up for $475. What do you think? Good Deal? Runs good.

That was a good buy I sold one for$400 a few years ago and it barely ran and was missing parts. I have a nice one now I converted to run on propane no more fuel problems!!! Make sure the grease cups are working including the one on the, crank as it lubes the rod bearing. They are good running engines and pretty tough

May be this will help. Beyond its an IHC hit-miss, I know NOTHING about them, and you don't state a model...This may not even cover yours.
I don't remember, CH Wendel's IHC book might have a serial list.

Yep, throttle governed, NOT "hit and miss". Even the "pros" on American Pickers missed that. Saw a re-run today where they were shown a similar IH engine, and called it "hit and miss", as well!

Below is a link to a good writeup about them in Farm Collector Magazine.

saw one just like that - in more faded, but operating condition. at action went for 625.

I was prepared to go to 500, but a few guys wanted it more than me.

I'd say you didn't steal it, but you paid a price you can be proud of.

i dont think you have copied the # correctly.
i looks like the 3 hp which should be starting with BW ..... and the serial # for 1937 starts at bw 39327 and this is the last year made.
