When my buddies get all worked up, I try to stop and say....OK, what is it that I was doing freely 30 years ago that I am prevented from doing today? Specifics....not maybes.

Are these restrains and intrusions real? ....or hypothetical?

Hypothetically, if you didn't do anything 30 years ago, you're not prevented from doing absolutely nothing today. That's about it.

I sure enjoy being fingerprinted and having copies of my driver's license made when selling a case of empties at the junkyard because of a law to "deter scrap metal theft". Around the corner from the cashier's door there was a WFE and a stack of weights for a 4020 that were stolen from my neighbor. Cops refused to do anything because my neighbor couldn't proove they belonged to him. I guess if it doesn't have the owner's name on it it's up for grabs. Welcome to the new USA. Laws for the sake of laws, and laws that torment the honest and do nothing to the criminals.
I could add a hundred or so things to RedDawg's list if you'd like. They may not affect you, but they affect somebody.

Flushed a real toilet...

Bought beer without showing an ID because the person behind the counter knew me and knew I was old enough...

Bought a firearm without a background check....

Carried a pistol without a permit....

Bought gas at $1.10 a gallon...

Bought fireworks for the 4th of July....

Rode a motorcycle without a helmet if I chose too.....

Left my front door unlocked for years.....

Left the car running when I went into the store on cold days....

Dropped off garbage at the landfill without showing an ID....

Went back and forth into Canada (6 miles away) to buy real beer without being strip searched at each crossing....

Drove a vehicle without the seat belt 'ding' driving me nuts....

Had my choice of restaurants and bars - smoking or non-smoking....

Paid taxes that didn't account for more social welfare than defense.....

Watched TV without every other SitCom being about an 'alternative lifestyle'....

Hunted in Colorado without having to be to be the oldest guy in the firearms class to get a safety permit just because I was born after 1945....(Yes, I had to take the lass at the age of 36)...

Could report an illegal alien without being called a raciest or bigot and something would actually be done about it....

Could gently discipline my own child without being reported to Children Services....
Could protect my house without fear of being sued by the burglar if he hurt himself while stealing from me....
Could have a pool with a Keep Out sign and not be sued if someone ignored it, trespassed and drown....
Could get healthcare without the government being involved......
Could make an agreement on a handshake.....

Could get on an airplane without being sexually violated...

Could protest near the president (now it could get you arrested)....

Could be young and have a voice of dissent without being put into a database of suspected 'terrorists'....
Could buy gold without being suspected of nefarious acts...

Could do bank transactions over $10,000 without having to be reported to the government....
Could buy a house with two signatures and a check.... (actually did that...)
Could sit outside and not wonder if a drone was flying over my head spying on me in my own home town....for my own good.....

Could talk on a bus or train without wondering if surveillance microphones were picking up every word....

Could go to a sporting even without being tracked with face recognition software.....

Could drive without the intrusion of automated license plate readers....

Could own private property without fear it would be confiscated under Eminent Domain laws and given to another private entity....
Could confront any 'witness' against me (6th amendment) except they never anticipated traffic light cameras....
Could live in a country where States had rights and weren't constantly begging Washington for its own money back......

Want me to go on....?
