Thinking of starting a relocation service...

Many people (my Family included) have established themselves in States that have since become abundant and Socialist enclaves: New York, Ct., Mass., Colo., Ca., State of Washington...people have obtained property and homes but would gladly relocate to States that are substantially freer if they could replace what they have without significant financial loss. So, I assume there are some Libs and Socialists with the same problem in states like N.H., Montana, Tx, The Dakotas, Georgia, Az...in the same type situation only in reverse...maybe start a business putting these people together to get people relocated to where they are happier?
I know it would help NY to have more people here that actually want to be here; I heard a report on the radio a couple days ago; NY is losing 9% of it pop. to income tax free or States that are freer in general. After they exclude the aforementioned 9%, they compared the population that IS moving to NY vs the Pop leaving and found that if the status quo doesn't change, within 12-15 years those people who ARE working AND paying taxes will have to be paying 75% of their income just to sustain the State.

We were ready to leave after the NYS (not so) SAFE Act got passed. Looked hard at Missouri and low and behold Mo. had gun laws just as bad or worse in the works. You can't get land in 300 acre chunks out in a lot of the western states and water is an issue. I'd love to go to Texas but I'm not giving up 342 acres to live on a 3/4 acre lot in a subdivision. I might, if I was really lucky, get $200k for my place. That isn't going to buy much in a lot of the rest of the country.

Great idea, but we've run out of places to run to.

Brett The new laws will just make more average citizens criminals under them. I sure as heck am not turning in any of my guns regardless of what some politicians pass in DC or the state house.

100% of my guns have been boughten privately with zero Federal knowledge. So I will just keep the powers that be dumb about what I exactly have. A couple of old rusty single shots rifles out in plain site and the rest in safe places.

Thinks about it. Did probation make people stop drinking???? Does the strict guns laws make DC and Chicago the safest places to BE ??????

All of this is just politicians blowing hot air to make themselves look good to the uninformed and the stupid. I think the stupid part is getting bigger. Too many sheep anymore.

The thing that gets me, is the feds have access to any longtime dealers "ledger" and I assume have the ability to audit or use the information in any way necessary, criminal investigation and beyond.

I'll use myself as an example, I may have bought firearms in the late 80's early 90's from a much older gent, whom now is likely senile, (get my drift?) who has been a dealer most of his life, and did record what was sold in that book/ledger etc. Given this infringement of the 2nd amendment hastily passed here in NY, I am assuming the real reason behind the registration is to update that ledger, as people may have sold off what they have or ownership has changed.

So now they change the rules, specifications, none of which accomplish anything, but an attempt to make a list of those who are now considered to have something they do not want you to have anymore, and increase the chance of making that so if you do not comply with laws they created, all which was done in absolute haste.

As I see it they just levied a tax against people like myself, whom miraculously for some unknown reason no longer own anything they want to know about, problem is that, those things that somehow got lost or can't be found, used to have a purpose, putting food on the table, pest control and so on, has to be replaced with something they don't have a law that requires them to know you have it. I speak in vague terms, but make no mistake about it, I will not for any reason cooperate with the new laws, which is now a crime, so that means certain things just happen to disappear, but have a replacement cost. One has to hide and never be seen with certain things, in fear of someone reporting what you have, thats a hell of a way to have to live, fearing at least a year in the lock up for what is an unalienable right.

We pay incredible taxes for the lands we have in this state, a tad under a hundred acres of A42 zoned ag land in this town will cost you at least 8k per year, not to mention all the other high taxation that drives business out. When I was young we still had a decent manufacturing base all around here, most of that is gone, one of my favorites was the nearby garden way plant, Troy Bilt Rototillers and so many other well made products and although one senate majority leader tried to help them make it, the overall big picture, with the way business's are treated here, still won and they shut the place down for good.

I cannot say I blame people for leaving, or making changes, its shameful that things are this way.

This too shall pass. Just like prohibition, the American people will wake up, and take back our rights. I REALLY hope none of you move out to my part of the world. I am here because I don't LIKE PEOPLE!! not really, but it is nice to not see anyone other then my wife, for days at a time.

If the feds have their way what you are proposing will not be doable in the very near future, the main reason the federal government has been steadily eroding states rights for years is to prevent competition for citizens amongst the free states and the more socialist states. Trouble is, you have 53% who voted for the present regime for one of or a combination of the following three reasons, (1) they are "Takers" who want and expect a living from the government and the tax payers (2) they are very stupid and gullible (3) they hate what America stands for and want to help destroy the culture and country.

PLEASE inform potential customers when moving South
1:we don't care to hear how great it was where you came from and will tell you if it was so great...go home.
2:we do things differently down here and don't care how things were done where you are from.
3:if a stranger walks up to you and starts talking or waves at you from a passing pickup truck, don't look at them like they're from outer space.

When my buddies get all worked up, I try to stop and say....OK, what is it that I was doing freely 30 years ago that I am prevented from doing today? Specifics....not maybes.

Are these restrains and intrusions real? ....or hypothetical?

Its no joke, and it really hits home when its the place you grew up on, in jeopardy, one town over its several thousand less, for the same acreage, it is absolutely ridiculous, that does not include the house which is, well I try not to remember, 3k or 6K per year,it changed, was reduced a bit, so I forget at the moment, its a separate parcel of land. If I cleared all the remaining fields and rented it to the large operator who mainly does corn for grain, it would not pay half, I would have to check on that, the only way this place would be able to pay the taxes is if you put it in hay and sold round bales by the ton and even then it may just not work, 20 acres of it is DEC/federal wetland, now a pond, still in the assessment too, this alone drives people out.

If it keeps up, I don't find work that pays, its not going to end well here, as its a mortgage payment, the taxes, not just part of a payment, it alone is a payment.

I live in NY,have love hate relationship. Family has been here since very early 1800's. Every thing I am is invested here, and I won't be leaving.
As far as the Safe law it totally ridiculus. Before any legislation is passed it needs to be vetted. this four men in a room crap has got to stop.
I am not a real criminal in the accepted sense but I do tend to ignore a lot of the personal safety, for the good of all laws.

Instaed of relocating everyone in your state you don't like wouldn't it be easier to just move yourself. Move to Montana and raise up a crop of dental floss.

That's the point. He wants to offer a service to move people to a state that better fits their opinions and attitudes.

When our beloved former Detroit mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick, decided to relocate to Texas, he sure didn't any help. I guess he was attracted to their slogan "Texas! Wide Open for Felons."

What you need to understand about Missouri gun laws are the same idiot submits the same laws every year and they NEVER get out of committee,no matter what Glen Beck says. I can strap on a 45 and walk down the streets of St Louis with out a permit, CC is allowed.

Could talk on a bus or train without wondering if surveillance microphones were picking up every word....

Could go to a sporting even without being tracked with face recognition software.....

Could drive without the intrusion of automated license plate readers....

Could own private property without fear it would be confiscated under Eminent Domain laws and given to another private entity....

Could confront any 'witness' against me (6th amendment) except they never anticipated traffic light cameras....

Could live in a country where States had rights and weren't constantly begging Washington for its own money back......

Want me to go on....?

Duhhhh, I meant I would like to be able to move my family somewhere where people are more inclined to think like I do without having to sustain a huge economic loss...as far as NE ideas ...I am a BIG "when in Rome" guy...I personally love the beauty of Upstate, NY, grew up here, but have gotten to the point that I am sick of the taxes and infringements upon personal freedoms, so I wouold gladly exchange my property for a like valued property in a freer state and seemlessly blend in, figured maybe there was some lib/socialist that wouold swap as he/she may feel more comfy in the environs here.

Hypothetically, if you didn't do anything 30 years ago, you're not prevented from doing absolutely nothing today. That's about it.

I sure enjoy being fingerprinted and having copies of my driver's license made when selling a case of empties at the junkyard because of a law to "deter scrap metal theft". Around the corner from the cashier's door there was a WFE and a stack of weights for a 4020 that were stolen from my neighbor. Cops refused to do anything because my neighbor couldn't proove they belonged to him. I guess if it doesn't have the owner's name on it it's up for grabs. Welcome to the new USA. Laws for the sake of laws, and laws that torment the honest and do nothing to the criminals.

I could add a hundred or so things to RedDawg's list if you'd like. They may not affect you, but they affect somebody.

(quoted from post at 04:45:01 04/19/13) You may be different but the problem with most folks from the NE US that move South is they bring their NE US ideas with them.

The problem with the south, (and the midwest, west, south west, Alaska, Hawaii, and pretty much every other place on earth.) is that they don't understand all of the northeast is not NYC, Boston, Philly, etc. Trust me, most of the south is a lot more urban than where I live. I've lived in the south, been there, done that.

We have the same problem with the city people that move here.

No, they won't. They didn't wake up during the Clinton AWB, they didn't wake up after 9/11 and they won't sudden;y wake up now. I ran a pro gun website for some time. The plain truth is 99% of the nations gun owners are too freakin lazy to get up off the couch and do anything whatsoever to protect their rights. That's the plain, hard, ugly truth.

(quoted from post at 06:08:12 04/19/13) 8K a year for farm land? Mine will be less than 1K for about 195 acres this year. OUCH!

Rick

Yup. And the State has just come out and demanded that farm land start being assessed at market value instead of a much lower value. They have a spending problem and think it's a revenue problem.

Its not the number of people its the mindset of the people.Like chickens that have been in a cage people that have lived in places long term that have lots of controls on them and are used to lots of Gov't Services have a problem living in a place with lots of personal freedom and few Gov't services.
