Southern Aitkin county, near Malmo MN on the north east corner of Mille Lacs Lake. Work off the farm full time, as do my brother and dad, who farm in partnership with me. We have 50 stock cows that are finishing up calving in one of the bigger snow storms of the year. We were forecasted to get 3-7 inches, and last forecast has us measured at 11" and still coming down fast and hard. Dad just called and said his 4x4 suv can't get through the drifts to do his 10 pm cow check. Should NOT have taken the chains off the 886 IH last weekend. Guess I'm heading outside to check on the ladies soon :)

SE, commutable to the world famous Goose Poo Park and Mayo - used to work there but resigned when third child was born. Was a home-daycare provider until our youngest was in kindergarten, now work as secretary/office manager again.

No critters here anymore and we have rented out our farmland for several years now, though we could not imagine living anywhere except the farm. (John Denver..."Hey it's good to be back home again. Sometimes this old farm, feels like a long-lost friend..."). Hope to stay here until we become "dearly departed" someday.

5 tractors ranging from a 1931 Farmall Regular to a late 1960's JD 4020. A DC Case thrown in the mix too - she's a good old workhorse, husband always used it on the planter when we farmed - now she bucks snow in winter.

North side of Bemidji, and a tree farm and cabin on the Canadian border, where the tractors live. Retired Millwright from paper mill in Sartell, MN. (the one that blew up)

Retired on our farm west of a lil town called Hanley Falls in southwestern Minn. Hopefully we seen the last blizzard of this long winter.

Used to roar by on the BNSF freights in a prior career. Sorry to see all that industry gone. Paper plants, board plants ect. Poor loggers darn hard to make a living selling firewood!

I am full time in real estate, mostly as an investor as I own and manage 27 rental units and am a Realtor as well. I do make about 40 acres of hay each year with my Farmalls which include a 756D, 706 gasser, 460D, 400 gas, and 2 C's. I only own about 10 of those acres, but I tell my wife that a guy needs 2 tractors for each acre that he owns. Looks like I've got plenty of expansion room!! lol, Its a good life here in Central MN.

Live in Ely. Spent every summer growing up on my Uncle's farm north of Ada, Mn. I did grow up in Ely and went to school here. Was in logging most of my working career. My mother was from Illinois and I inherited some great farm land there and currently have it rented out. This helps me keep up on farm issues.

You must be close to Sue and Jim Leiferman, just south of Janesville. My niece. Sister Mary lived there, Jerry & Mary Schultz, both now gone. I am in Madison, Mn.

My mother was a Mills, grew up on Carling AVE NE, Buffalo. Farm has been in the family since right after the civil war. Land grant has Lincolns name on it. Next time there is a housing boom it will probably become a development. Hope to make a trip down there this summer, visit the cousin, go to the cemetery. Great grandfather was in the civil war, wounded and captured at Gettysburg.

As the crow flies, I'm maybe 4 miles or so from Jim & Sue. I knew Jerry and Mary very well. When I lived in town, I was only about 3 blocks from them.

Hazel Run and Hanley Falls! There's a blast from the past.
I was on the 'steel gang' there in the early '80's
for the RR.
Hanley Falls was the location for the first 'wye'
on railroads. Mandated by the Supreme Court.
good luck
I live in Hawthorne WI, but grew up in Hinckley.
Have rellys all over the state.
Kenny

In the 80's- Did you help put in the ribbon rail modernizing the RR? Or did you work on the spur heading west to Hazel Run, Clarkfield ,and Dawson? My wifes brother, father and uncles all worked for the railroad at one time or another. Her father was a section gang boss, Brother was a signal maintainer, Uncle was also a section boss. There was several "oldtimers" that retired from the Railroad and lived in Hanley Falls. Plus of course there was a hobo jungle close to the Y. This was probably before your time but the RR was a big part of the little town. Now there is a large grain elevator, church, liquor store, gas station, two branch banks and thats about it. A bed room community for people who like smaller communities to live in while working in larger towns. Actually a lot of our southern neighbors have settled here and kept it alive, clean and neat. This is a town with a colorful exciting history. The oldtimers could tell some pretty good stories and some not so good. During the 30s one of the banks got robbed and a self appointed posse took off after them. They seen a car parked along the road and opened fire killing a young gal who was sitting with her boyfriend. it was never determined who shot the fatal shot but in the next year two members of that posse killed themselves. Hanley Falls was also known far and wide for its pure soft water.

Thanks for the reply. Always good to hear someone knew my sister. We used to stay at their place when we came down that way. Our mom and dad lived in southern mn until 1950 when they moved to Dawson, Mn. I was born near Wells and Minn Lake. Have 3 sisters still living in that southern Mhn area. Take care. Jim Holan, Madison, Mn ( alias pete).

North of Cokato. Millwright for 34 years at the feed mill in Howard lake while farming 80 acres and farrowing 35 sows to sell feeder pigs. Now have 13 tractors--mostly IHC.Retired but still busy with tractors and firewood cutting.

We have a daughter and son-in-law and family in Winsted.
I"ve noticed there have been several IHC tractors for sale by a Howard Lake fellow. Maybe you know him?

I worked on both projects. Steel gangs all over down there... Ruthton, Garretson, Pipestone...
I ran a mud jack on the spur to Hazel Run.
Is the watertower in Hazel Run still standing?
Spring water soooo cold.
Loved it all down there.
