DANG! Happened again.

After weeks of really nice weather,70s,80s, it froze last night. Mulberry tree and Chinaberry tree and grape vines were leafing out really nice. Now the leaves are hanging like wet rags, turning black. Peach tree blooms all froze. Didn't hurt the Chinese Elms. Never does. This has been going on for a few years now. Haven't had peaches in about 7 years. It looked like this year was going to be different. Never freezes here in the middle of April.

I feel your pain also. HOWEVER, this year I hope to get 6-10 peaches. I bought an 8-foot new peach tree at the local WM about a month ago. I grabbed one as they were unloading it off the truck. I put it in the basement and have watered it every couple of days. It has since bloomed and the peaches on it now are about the size of plums. I'm going to transplant it outside after the freeze date. Of course with my luck, it will hail the day after I get it outside.

Western Colorado fruit took a BIG hit.Apricots,cherrys,apples,pears....gone. Palisade Peaches are history...

Clear skies, low humidity, heat goes straight up to outer space. I am always on the search for a place with better weather... but holy cow! Arizona has... 5 inches of rain? And wells 1000 feet deep? And I am where it rains 50 inches... and wells are dug with a shovel... and the 'heating degree days' are just as scary.... but no snow.... at least there's no snow.... I don't like snow too much...

79 in Indianapolis yesterday afternoon. After 3.2 inches of rain fell, now 39 with a FREEZE warning for tonight.

Hey Richard, My wife is still sort of in your area. She should have left Mexican Hat Utah this morning and heading back to Mesa AZ today then heading back to MO on Sunday. She said in Utah they had snow

33.5° on my thermometer this morning.

Just replanted the beans and peppers. The figs just started re-budding from the last frost too.

whew!

You are taking a serious risk transplanting a tree with fruit already on it. Better to just move it outside in the pot. Mulch around the pot so it doesn't dry out/heat up in the direct sun and water well regularly (but make sure you have good drainage and don't drown the tree). Then transplant in the fall after the fruit is done.

WE live 35 miles South of Wilcox. Wilcox is about 50 miles west of the New Mexico border on I-10. And about 45 miles north of the Mexican border. Elevation 4300'.

Don't think she enjoyed it around here from Sunday to Thursday. Wind blew STEADY at 30, 40 mph. Never quit. Around our area the air was about 50% solid grit. Blew all the loose dirt away down to hard pan. I can work outside in any weather EXCEPT wind.

Ya guess other there when it is windy you have a free sand blaster if you want it or not. Here in MO is gets windy a lot but we have enough grass etc to hold the soil in place
