I don't know what it means exactly, but!!!!

As I said yesterday, I got a break in the weather, black gumbo
was manageable, and I did the cultivator thing in prep for a
spring planting.

I've had this tractor in my 6th year now and I felt that it was a
very efficient rascal, but today I got some numbers; not all
because I didn't log hours run but some numbers.

I know it beats my Deeres, but.... I guessed 8-8.5 gallons for
6.5 acres using for a usage rate of 1.3 gallons per acre.

Starting from the top of the pics (if I can make this work):

1. I used this
2. With this engine
3. Pulling this in B1 @ 2600rpm (12 gears A-C, 1-4)
4. This deep
5. Using one of these 5 gal cans plus what you see missing in
the pic
6. Filling the tank back up
7. Obtained from this in cultivating 6.5 acres as best I can
measure.

Think it's worth keeping?

If we worked ground that wet up here it would be bricks the rest of the year. Your ground must work pretty easy/good for you to be able to pull that wide of a cultivator with your tractor.

Is that model/type of Branson still available??? I know the older Bransons and Centuries where made by the same company. The Century company has fell out with the Korean manufacture of them. I think the TYM tractor is the Korean manufacture selling their tractors themselves.

Glad it fits the bill for what you want to do. That is all that matters. All of us have different expectations of what we want in a tractor and that makes the world a great varied place.

B3.3NA
Naturally aspired, direct injection, 4 cyl, 3260 cc (200 cu. in.) 18:1 compression, 65 engine hp @2600.

Built in Japan to Cummins specs, license by Komatsu heavy equipment co......makes heavy construction equipment like Catepillar.

This one is built by Kukji Heavy Equipment Mfg. Co. in S. Korea. Been building HE including tractors since 1969. Newer tractors no longer use the Cummins. Mine is an '07 model. I don't know who makes their engines now. I like the 4 cyl smoothness and lack of a turbo to get the rated hp.

This is Houston Black Clay and it is mighty picky about how you work it....on it's terms. Yes it's wet below thanks to the nice rains we've had but you can see from the tires (I just came out of the field) that the top is dry and mixing that with the damp under part makes it work "right now". When it gets dry it is like a brick and working is impossible to say the least; wetter and it's goo and you can completely get gummed up in the length of a tractor.

The pulling ability of this tractor is in the MFWD. I never had one before and some neighbors had some JD 4wds and showed me the difference the extra pulling axle makes in tugging ability. I compared this to a 100 hp 4230 2wd I had with this same cultivator. Next door neighbor has an 85 4wd replacing a 125 2wd. both green.

With age getting the best of me I wanted something comfortable that would get the work done. I was tired of being the victim of the elements. This one fills the bill and I am very happy with it.

I tossed this in because a few days ago folks were asking questions about colors other than green, red, blue and orange. A lot of stuff about China this and that and all. Just wanted to toss in a word or two that foreign made tractors have been around for many many 10's of years and a lot of them wear the familiar colors. I know MF is made all over, I had Fords and MF from England, the MF with a Perkins 3 cyl diesel. They aren't all bad. As a matter of fact, I shopped all the big colors in the spring of '07 and had about given up on getting a new tractor till September when I saw this brand.

I think it is around 2500#. Since retiring, I started using bag fertilizer rather than the gondola (spreader) from the local bulk dealer because my application requirements have changed. I buy it by the ton and the bags are loaded on a skid.

They load the skid on my trailer and when I get home I get it off the trailer and put it in my shop using a little pipe/chain adapter I made. Handles it nicely in addition to handling 5x6 round bales. I do have 50 gallons of water solution in the rears and if working off a hill engaging 4wd keeps the tires from spinning.

Yes it's handy but I have a couple of Fords (2000D and 3000D) that I use too for utility work.

Yes I'm happy with it. I have been trying to post a picture of the skid with 1 ton of fertilizer on it to show that it's no big deal for the tractor but like several others I am having posting problems. I emailed Chris yesterday and got an answer but have been busy and it will be a couple of days before I can try again using what he said.

One reason I bought this tractor, taking a guess that it would be reliable and all that having no experience with the brand, be around when I needed repair parts later on and all was the fact that the dealer allowed a abundant trade in.

The tractor is loaded inside and out. It has conveniences no other color even thought of. It has a high back, air seat for example as standard equipment like is in an 18 wheeler. You ride on a cushion of air. I noticed this year that JD has one as an option at least in their 5000 series comparable hp line. I don't recall them having one in '07.

Anyway I paid $37k for it. Not cheap. But I had 7 tractors at the time and I was allowed to trade a JD 4010D with loader (157 as I recall), a restored Ford 3000D with engine done, new paint and rubber, and a MF 35 with a Perkins diesel in really fine original condition.

It was a no brainer for the dealer as he brought his buyer to the house to look the trade-ins over and give him a price for them. No other color would do that. It was a VERY big deal as all of a sudden the $37 k was now down to $22,500. That WAS a big deal and all of a sudden very affordable. The rest is history.

So now, in working through some of my postings of the last couple of days I find out the company that makes it (Kukje tractor co. in Korea) also makes the 46 hp JD 1550, the 51 hp JD 1650, and the 53 hp JD 1750. So I guess they do have some established longevity, market share, and reliability.
