Here's a few pictures out of one of my books on the IH 8-16 Tractor being made on the IH assembly line.
1. Engines on the assembly line
2. Transmissions being built on the assembly line
3. Engines being installed
4. The 8-16 appears to be the 1st tractor by IH using the assembly line
5.Coming out of the paint booth. Man in back pouring gas in the tank.
6. H.B. Morrow, superintendent of tractor works.

From what I have read there were only 50 IH 8-16's built with a pto.

That was quite a tractor for it's day. I ran across some interesting pictures this winter of a reaper factory. Do you suppose I could find them later?

Here is a 8-16 IH that sold last Sept at the Field Of Dreams auction near Pierce,NE..It brought an unreal $35,000..It didnt run and although the engine turned over the day before the sale it wouldnt turn the day of the sale..I talked to a guy at the sale that had planned on selling his restored 8-16 for far less money..

30 years ago I saw a local old man who had one all restored at the
Mascoutah Homecoming & Tractor Show here in Illinois. But I can't remember his name. I'll have to ask around.

Neat photo's. Like many factories of that era, there were a lot of windows as they relied on sunlight more than electric lights.

I like this one!

So badly wanted to go to that sale just for the photo-ops! Could not get my better half to go.

John B.,

I didn't know what it was until I saw your photos.

We saw a restored on at the Heritage Park show in Forest City, IA last summer. That is was neat, so snapped a shot. Here is a pic.

Lots of neat stuff there..15-30 Aultman Taylor sold for $43,600..I believe it was heading to Idaho..

20-35 Oil Pull sold for $14,000 and is being loaded to head east..

Since this is the feature I might as well show mine off that I picked up recently. I was told the rear wheels are rare "sand wheels". It's not perfect but it does run and didn't cost me near as much as the Field of Dreams tractor.
