Flying Belgian,
Well did you go to the auction that had the grain truck for sale with the 290 Cummins? Just curious how you turned out with it if you purchased it. I seen it in my Agri News paper in the auction section. Truck didn't look to bad in the picture.

Yes Kow i went. Cab was in pretty tough shape. Vice grips to open drivers door. Construction type fenders built with 1/8 inch plate but all rusted out, holes rusted right through. As soon as I saw it up close I new I did not want it for any $$. I never had to run junk and I am not about to start now. Every piece of equip I buy I rebuild to like new condition and this would have taken more time then I have. Boy did it run nice though. And the box and roll tarp were in very nice shape. Sold for $6000 which probably is not to bad if you don't care what it looks like. The exhaust pipe elbows were burned through in several places and yet it was d.o.t. just last month. What gives with that?

If the exhaust leaks are behind the cab it will pass for DOT.

Depending upon the state it may be in violation of the statute that deals with an exhaust system but the DOT is only for minimum safety standards and that is no leaks until it is past the back of the cab.

Auction by Comfrey last Thursday, a simple Chevy 1973 grain truck, 14 foot box, went $9200.

It was in great shape, but huh.

Everything at that sale went high.

Went down to Floyd IA today, found some row clean
Hers for my planter. Man that is a big auction, they run 2 to 4 rings at a time, gets confusing. Got there late with the fog this morning.

It is amazing some people can just beat their equipment to the ground. I would have walked away too. I just don't understand how people can treat equipment so poorly and yet it passes MN DOT inspections? Well, good luck in your search for a different truck.
