A permanent Magnet rotor in a Delco based unit is not able to be regulated at the alternator. External power conditioner systems using electronics to control output without loosing efficiency. Probably far greater charging capability than a stock unit, but not for replacing a vehicle unit. Jim

Eagle makes on from a Delco 10SI, modified with a permanent magnet rotor and carbon fibre prop. A friend had one. With the PM rotor, there is no way to control output. His burned up the stator on a windy day. I added a link to their site. Look around.
