Unbelievable!

An 80 acre farm w/ old 1000 sq. ft. 2 story farm house in Central Mi brought $595,000 a month ago. This was not over in the thumb where the good soil is either. What's gonna happen when corn is $2.50 again?

Land in some parts of southern Ontario is bringing $23000 per acre. That's 2.3 million for 100 acres. I agree, if corn drops too much there will be bloodshed.

what you think corn will get that low. I remember in 1939 farm next to ours brought 240 and they said he will never get it paid for.

It would have brought 800000 here in ohio.My neighbor just sold 116 acres with 16 acres of woods for a million bucks.

The lending institutions will again get bailed out. They are too big to fail, remember?

Woulda cost an extra $240,000 here. Gone crazy. Neighbors say they get over 200 bu corn all the time, but I struggle to get 175 and mine looks as good as theirs.....

You know, they are not making any more.

You know it cash flows today.

You know demand for grain is on an upward spiral.

You know, this time is different.....

Yup, all makes sense.......

Saw 118 acres with a moble home on it auction off today for 1450. an acre. Had some pretty decent hillside fields on it too. I went for the New Holland 851 w/ auto wrap on it. Brought it home with me, now I have to find a manual & do some work on it replacing a small cable and a couple of belts. The farm was near Point Pleasant, WV. Keith

Land here is around that price. The southern half of SW Ontario, especially in areas like Woodstock, is going for over $20,000. Rent is up to $400. 103 acre farm with 95 workable. Asking over 21,100 per workable acre.

you can still average out well under a grand an acre here. Next door neighbor has 500 some acres and a nice house, asking $400K, I don;t know if he'll get it though.

Paul,
I know exactly what you mean. My neighbors routinely grow 200 bu. corn. I pay a lot of attention to yield trials and fertility, and mine usually looks just as good as theirs. But 175 is pretty good for me. Several pieces of ground came up for rent this spring and will have to make 200 bushels to show the farmer any profit.

Gene, It's happened before when farmers got too greedy and planted more than the market needed. We get a decent year with enough rain and with the numbers of acres projected to be planted this year and we could see corn well under 5 bucks. Every guy besides me I know is planning to plant every square inch they can to corn this year areound here.

The numbers say that with all of the bean oil that will be needed for the government mandated bio-diesel, will take ALL of the beans grown in the USA, ground is cheap.
