Compact Utility Tractor for daughter

Dughter and SIL have a little horse outfit- bought it out of foreclosure, blackberry vines everywhere, lots of work to do (which they are doing, I'm pleased to see). I took my 20 HP JD 4010 up there, they are getting a lot of use out of it, but I'd like to get it back.

Consignment auction in Woodburn, OR tomorrow- they've got some 4WD loader tractors listed, I don't know much about them:

Kubota B7100
Kubota B7150
IH 244
JD 2750
Ford 1710

Anybody have any experience with any of these? Good or bad? Any idea of values? Any help before tomorrow morning would be appreciated.

Get the specs at www.external_link that JD is a pretty good sized tractor.

The little IH is really a Mitsubishi and nice tractors. I've had a couple and they are good little machines. Of course, Kubota will have better parts availability.

For loader work, especially in close quarters, like cleaning barns/stalls, I wouldn't even look at a gear drive. Hydrostatic or nothin'!

Mike the B 7100 & B 1750 are as different as day light and dark. The B 7100 was a cheap tractor that we sold a lot of because of price. The problem with the B 7100 is NO POWER STEERING and folks tried putting loaders on them. Just would not work to good. The B 1750 is a tractor Kubota sold worlds of and really I can,t think of many problems. I would bet that either will be 4 wheel drive hydrostatics which really make for nice units. Both are in the 20 + year old but still parts avl.

Those Kubotas would be only around 15 I know that an 8200 is 19. A friend has had a 1710 for 30 years. It does the work of a full sized small tractor.

The Ford 1710 is a handy size, buddy runs a 1920. Not sure how parts are getting to be on the compact 10 series. They are pushing almost 30 years old now.

The B7100 has been built forever. If it were me I would look at the B7150 its the newest model.

I have a B1750HST Kubota that I bought new in 1993. I have used it for 20 years and have had ABSOLUTELY NO problems of any kind with it. I have given it excellent maintenance and kept it inside. Aside from fuel, lubricants and filters I haven"t spent a nickle on it. Not so much as a fuse, light bulb or fan belt.

It is rated 20 HP (engine) and about 15 PTO IIRC. I use it to mow grass with a MMM and plow snow with a back blade. I do not have a loader.

Not sure if it is suitable for your intended tasks but mine has probably been the best substantial purchase that I have ever made.

Note: Hydrostat transmissions are not tolerant of poor maintenance. Failure to change oil and filters as recommended will lead to premature failures that can be cost prohibitive.

Parents Own a 7100D,17hp, excellent tractor, use it to mow, plow snow, rototill the garden, never had any issues with it. They got it from my Grandfather when they bought their first house, i believe that was 1987, and it was used then.

My father in law has a ford 1710 with a fel.a nice tractor had it since new and never had trouble. He mows a 10 acre field, brush hogs, back blades the driveway and handles firewood chores.

I have a kubota b1750 that I bought in 89. I also have aJD bought in 2008. Wish I had bought another Kubota.

I have a B7100 hydrostatic that I"ve had for 10 years. With 4 wheel drive it is handy. Power steering would be nice, but at 16hp and a 60" deck, you have to be careful. I lent it to my brother a couple of years ago, and he over heated it mowing long grass an cracked the head. Something with more hp would be better. Other wise, Kubota is a stout compact.
