Chain Harrow question.

I bought a new chain harrow today. It"s 10" wide. I want to use it to level plowed then disced ground. You can pull it upside down for the least agressive mode with no tines down, you can pull it semi aggressive with the tines down but facing backwards, or lastly you can pull it with the tines down facing forward for the most aggressive. Which way should I pull it? Thanks in advance!!

Which way shall I pull it? That is the question that has dominated my mind for decades. I have came to the conclusion that you must pull it the way it pleases you....

Depends on your soil conditions. Basically trial and error.
If I smooth my ground in my garden too smooth it bakes
into a brick and nothing seems to grow under ground.
I'd give it a try starting at the middle setting and see what you get.

I had a 20 foot "Fuerst" harrow. It did a very good job with the tines facing back, & down at a fast speed. 6.5 + MPH. I only used it in tilled ground for hayfields, & to shred Frozen corn stalks in winter.

your tractor is going to toy with that 10 inch harrow. like the man said, trial and error. unless you're looking for seat time, try it behind the disc.

Lol I was in a hurry when I wrote this question. I ment 10" chain harrow lol. I would love to put it behind the disc to cut time, but my disc is 12" so it"s wider than the harrow. I"m afraid it wouldn"t get the hills left behind from the edges of the disc but I am going to at least try it.
