Last week a couple neighobrs not too far from me got in a arguement about something. I heard it was over cutting cutting a tree. One guy pulled out a gun out, and shot his neighbot in the head. Now one man is dead, and one is in jail over something very stupid. stan

Back when I hauled milk in the early to mid 70s,I took on a bunch of new stops when another milk plant closed. There was one that I only had for about a month. Got there one day and the house was burned to the ground and the cows were gone, nobody around. A neighbor said the two brothers had gotten in a fight over something, the one shot the other one, then burned the house down around him.

Something like that happened by my front door but it was way before my time. One brother lived in this house I live in now and the other lived across the road. Brother across the road thought this brother was messing with his wife so he came over here and shot him dead. It was in the 1890's sometime. He's buried in a country cemetery about ten miles from here. I've never told my daughter-in-law because she gets believes in haunted places. Jim

During one of many arguments I got into with my dad he said "well I'll take care of you" and went running back into the house. I knew he was going for his gun so I jumped in the car and took off. I spent the night in jail, but didn't get shot.

Why did you end up in jail, couldn't see someone's dad getting
that mad but maybe. Least you made it alive

About 35 years ago a couple of neighbors near here got in an argument over a line fence. One stated he'd just saw the fence down, grabbed a chain saw, but it kicked back and got him right in the jugular vein. He died before he could make it to his car.

Another incident in our little town - hot headed neighbor had a fatal heart attack in the county court room during a property line dispute.

It ain't worth it. . .

Years ago when I lived in Illinois and before he went to prison, the then governor made some lady mad enough that she clobbered him in the face with a pie, and she went to jail. Nest morning I go to this job in the governor's hometown, and as I walk in some lady working there grins and asked me if I heard what happened to the governor. I said YES, adding that it should have been two pies and a ball bat across the knees. She laughed and dragged me over to some other lady that turned out to be her boss, and told me to tell her, so I did, "It should have been two pies and a ball bat across the knees". That was my first time there and I honestly had no idea the second lady was the governor's near and dear loving sister. I hope that she got over throwing me out of there.

(quoted from post at 19:33:27 04/03/13) Was your dad that hot-headed, or were you just that aggravating?

He was a very hot headed tortured man. I really felt sorry for him later when I got more perspective on it. I pulled him off my younger sister once when he was slapping her pretty hard, so he came after me. I had him down on the floor in no time because he had no stamina due to many years of smoking. I lived at the High School principal's house for a week after that one LOL.

I know of a couple of guys who used to get very physical with their dads due to the dad roughing up mom or sister, often while dad was drinking. Let me tell you if you raise a boy beating on him to teach him right or wrong he will put you in your place as soon as he can.

My memory ain't what it used to be, but I "think" the pie-in-the-face incident with Ryan happened in Carbondale, and a couple of local restaurants started serving "Ryan Pie" or something similarly named. The girl caught his security off guard and went to jail, but Ryan graciously pardoned her and set her free. My opinion of him went up a notch when he showed he had a sense of humor about the incident. Just a notch tho. . .

A cousin of mine spent a year in prison for manslaughter. Her goofy mean father was choking her brother and she thought her father was going to kill her teenaged brother. So she got the family .22 and shot her father in the head, which ended their problems with him. My cousin was never in any trouble with the law again and is now about 80 years old.

This all happened before I was born, and I would guess there was more to the story. I think my cousin regretted shooting her father, but I do not think anyone regretted his death. He was a mean, bad man, who did a BUNCH of other bad things I won"t go into here. My aunt later married a real nice guy that treated her and her family super well. Too bad she didn"t make a better choice the first time around.

This reminds me of two brothers (one who I worked with) where on shot the other over a brush pile on their farm property. On died and the other one went to jail. The dead brother had a new bride that ended up with the farm and money.
