What free item do you have from your local seed dealer, equipment dealer, chemical rep and so on?

WAAAAY back in the late '60s or early '70s, the New Holland salesman told my dad that he would get a free TV if he bought a brand new New Holland baler. He bought a new Hayliner 269 and completely forgot about the TV. A couple of months later, the salesman drove on my dad's place and gave him a new General Electric TV. It was all-tube, black and white, and was probably about a 12" or 13" model. We put the TV in our shop and my brother and I got to watch Scooby Doo on Saturday mornings while we cleaned the shop or did chores that my dad always had lined up for us during the cold winter months. My mom recently threw out the TV. We still have the baler that has spit out hundreds of thousands of bales.

I forgot to put in Dad bought a new D17 AC tractor in 1960. I still have the toy D17 that the dealer gave him.

Back in the 80"s, gateway ford, in upper mayberry, had an open house, I won a lousy tiawan radio, dam thing wouldn't play, I had to solder the wires on to the speaker! Still was more effort than anything from gateway was worth!

Every time I go into the Case IH dealer in Grand Junction Iowa with one of my boys, one of the guys there gives him a toy tractor (1/64). Never spent more than a couple hundred dollars at one time.

My dad bought a New 1947 John Deere B outfit cultivator, plow, disk, harrow, and bar mower. I got a toy JD B. (it has a man on it) I was 2 at the time. I can't remember getting it but remember playing with it. Fast forward 20 yrs. Was cleaning up a trash dump in our gullies. Spotted the little tractor, mom had threw it away. I have it on a shelf in my bedroom. It is a long way from perfect, but holds a lot of good memories. Vic

Back about 1970, my dad bought a JD 140 garden tractor. Week or so later, he found an ad in a Reader"s Digest - said if you bought a JD garden tractor, they would throw in a free kids pedal tractor. Still have both tractors, and pedal tractor lasted through my three kids, (his grand kids).

I got a football one year from the pioneer seed corn dealer and over the years he has given out water jugs and flash lights.

Back in 1950 dad bought a new Chevrolet. With it he got a pocket knife with the dealers name on it. One blade has a cut key that fits the ign switch. I still have the knife & a friend has the car. Not running though.

These two photos are just a few of the things I have received. Granddad and my Dad were all IHC. I am too, but have strayed off some. Have wore out several Tractor buckles. Have a nice 7120 CaseIH tractor model but bought it at an auction.
Just received the two coats on Monday.

I've got a few treasures from our old Ford dealership, one a thermometer, the Pam clock with the ford logo that was over the parts counter, a plaque with an award for hay equipment merchandising or something like that.

The themed posts you have been doing are great, I just can't keep up with them, need to organize, take some photos etc.

I did just find some treasured photos, the town history book, some shots of our old dealer building, one in the history book with a line of new N series tractors out front, will have to post some of these either scan or just take photos see what is better resolution etc. Also the only one with both our old barns, an auction going on, its likely the only photo I have of the old farmstead showing both barns.

I have lost track. My oldest son started with Syngenta (NK seeds) right out of college, then went to work for Corporate John Deere (even though we were lifelong IH folks), and he is now with Mosaic Fertilizer.

I have coats, jackets, camo hunting coats, coffee mugs, Mag-lite flashlights, bar stools, carbiners, numerous knives, tape measures, note pads, and more, but I ferget.

I've gotten the regular stuff, coats, sweatshirts, hats, clocks, rain gauges, knives, mag light flash lights, walkie talkies, etc. One year the Dekalb seed company kept sending me stuff. I wasn't a customer of theirs but they sent me among other things a "pocket rocket" temp and wind speed meter that I still have and use. The most unique though was they sent me a box with a barely polinated corn ear and a nice corn ear that was fully filled out. In the bottom of the box was $2.33 and the enclosed paper stated something to the effect of " Dekalb makes you more money"....and average of $2.33 per something...something. Pocketed the $2 and still haven't bought Dekalb.

I got a plastic key fob with a new tractor once. I usually bought trucks two at a time and one time I got a nice jacket when I bought two, I don't remember what make the trucks were but the jacket was Sterling. The best thing about it was that a friend had recently bought a little Sterling with a paper thin dump body but lots of chrome, and I never saw him with a jacket, and just as I expected he was jealous when he saw mine.

Local Deere dealer (Smith Machinery in Roswell, NM) had a Deere day back in the 70's at a local dairy and my mom won a ROPS with canopy in a raffle. We put it on our 4010.

When I was a kid I was always grabbing sales literature for farm equipment. One time I wrote to John Deere asking for a couple brochures and they sent me the brochures along with a nice hat.

New Holland had give away to introduce their UTV line called Rustlers. I entered the contest at my local dealer and three months later they called me to say I had won a Rustler 125.
First time I've ever won anything.

Got a clock from Snap-On. Could post a pic but don't want to get poofed. It's not nude, but she does have red hair.

In the spring of 53 I was with my grandfather when he bought a 40C John Deere,The dealer gave me a toy dozer. I have them both. My other grandfather bought a 40T in 55 which is in the collection. Sometime about 52 granddad won a small 60 pedal tractor at the local Deere day and I proudly rode it through the school gym where the show was held.I have it in a special case I built in my sunroom. Another fellow my age, tells me, when he stops by, that he was so upset and jealous that he cried when he didn't get the tractor 60 yrs. ago

Dad bought a new McCormick #8, 3x14 plow in 1950 and the dealer, Helm Bros at Elgin, Ill. gave me a toy plow. I still have it. clint

Won a color tv at a dealer's once. TV is long gone, but I still have the tractor I bought there.
