i come across a cat 6cyl 318 with a pup start been 15 years sence it been started. the pup started right up got feul pressure on the guage . cracked the injecter lines only a smal amount of fuel comes out. any ideas what to look at next . to see why it wont fire up . thanks for any leads

I worked on starting a JD 450 Dozer after it sat for a couple of years and it wouldn't fire until I disconnected the air intake from the filter housing. It turned out the filter housing was full, and I mean packed, with mouse filler. It wasn't getting enough air.
Worth checking if you haven't yet.

What do you see out the exhaust when the big motor being cranked?

- If exhaust is clear it's not getting fuel. Open the throttle fully and crank try again. If it's still clear suspect plugged filter(s) or air in the injection lines.

- If exhaust white it's getting fuel but not igniting. Make sure to close the compression release soon as the pony is turning the big motor. Otherwise problem is low compression from worn or improperly adjusted valves or compression release mechanism, worn rings, etc.

- Finally if exhaust is black it's starving for air. Disconnect the air cleaner and check for a mouse nest, etc.

Good luck!

all good points--only thing i can add that i have run into is stuck injector--/s keeping rack bar in closed position, regardless of throttle position--
