I think its mid to late '50's, but not sure.

Has it been sitting there for a long time? Kind of a shame to see it deteriorate. They're not all that common, especially in that size range, and it would be kind of cool to see someone bring it back to life.

Larry, I drove one of those ugly ducklings for about three years for a dairy I worked for. The one I drove was a "67 as I recall, would not have been much older as the co. replaced thier trucks after 10 years. It was a drafty, noisey truck but very dependable. Also resonably easy to work on. That hood stood straight up when opened but the fenders are hinged at the front and swung forward. Ken

i will throw a guess also, early 70's as it looks just like the fuel delivery truck back then.

That is a C series. I drove a 1965 C-600 it had been modified to get a GVW of 42,000 by adding spring leaves with the number of eight leaves increased to thirteen. This made the U bolys too long for their length and in a panic stop broke the U nolts and ran over the front axle. The truck had about a 361 or 362 engine with a Clark 5 speed and 2 speed axle. Not very powerful when overloaded and only got about 6 MPG.

The conventional cab models were the series D

larry@stines,
Thanks for posting - neat old truck. Much more square on the fenders/front end than any I have seen before.

That is a "C" cab or series Dodge truck. The one in the picture is between a 1960 and 1968 model. They changed to a single head light on each side in 1969. The door handle changed also in 1970. The 1971 model door handle was lower and was a push button style.

My Father bought a trucking business from an Uncle in 1971. The business was an OLD GMC V-6 single axle lime truck, a 1963 Ford tandem dump truck and a 1971 Dodge C-800 tri-axle dump truck(only eight months old). By the time my Dad quit trucking in the early 1980s he had over 15 of the Dodge "C" cab trucks. He likes how the fenders opened for servicing the truck. He switched to the Ford Louisville trucks after Dodge quit making large trucks.

A friend of his bought the last Dodge C-800 gas tandem sold in the US in 1975. The C series frame would not stand the stress the "NEW" anti-lock brakes caused on the frame. The early system shut the air completely off to the sliding wheel for a short time. Made for a real jerky stop. They sold them in Canada for two more years and completely quit in 1977. They only made school bus chassis and camper chassis units into the mid 1980s.

That's a neat old truck, but it would look even better if it had a new paint job and some TLC. Thirty years ago I would have said it was an ugly truck, but I guess I've softened a bit. My question is, who sold Dodge trucks? Did any Dodge car dealer sell trucks too, or were there separate truck dealerships, sort of like what International Harvester had for their trucks?

My Uncle had one bought new about 1969. Red with red Flasco 20' combination stock and grain. Had a 413 eng 15 speeds and walking beam suspension. I think he generally hauled 550 bu of corn.

My neighbors had one like that on their farm. They seemed to have a bad time with every truck that they had, and mind you I'm not saying bad luck, but the Dodge seemed to do best for them. It was still running when they sold out.

dad had a small dumptruck like that awhile back.....I believe it was a '68 model. The fenders open forward toward the grill, and the hood opens also......

It was noted as a "cabover forward" model in the book. wasnt a bad old truck.....just funny looking.
