Phlash OK,
Thanks for posting. It is a really neat ad.

Amazing to think how much life has changed over the last couple of generations! Shoot - even from my dad's generation to mine (he was born in 1928... me in 1963)

My mom and dad were both born in 1928 also. I always loved the old equipment and gadgets. They always told me if I had to grow up using those gadgets and equipment I wouldn't feel the same about them now...I know they were right.
My mom just turned 85 last Friday. She has trouble getting around and dad helps her in and out of bed and a chair.

Before my time, but there is a concrete pedestal in the basement, and you can see the patched hole in the wall where the exhust went out for the electric plant in the basement. Think it was a 48v setup, not sure. Guess there was a row of batteries on the wall, still find the black rods in the grove from the batteries. They made cool chalk for writing on the sidewalk.

REA took care of those setups.

Mom talked about her brother putting together a windmill and battery generator, would charge up the battery every few days, to power the radio when she was growing up.

I've got one similar to that around here from the Edison Electric Company from 1902. It asks "Building a new factory? Consider electric power".

That was kind of a general remark, almost all of the new houses are fully wired and most have air powered pump water systems for presure water, kit.and baths. But they are NOT tied into the outside world.

Only 120 years ago, and here I sit with a laptop, wirelessly to the router, with electrons spitting my words across the world using how many different electrical setups....

How the world has changed.
