hi neighbor. just down the road at saltsburg now. not farming, but enjoy this board. did do alot of canning...300 plus of quarts a year of veggies. u near home, pa or derry?
 
Hey Keith, I'm you neighbor too just north of Clymer. Didn't you just buy a house a few months back, how did that turn out? Had seen the pics you posted.
 
Yeah I bought a house. I'm still in college at Cal U but once I get home this summer I'll be working on it. I didn't realize we had so many people in my area on this board.
 
I'm in New Florence. I played Saltsburg in football and basketball. We did a lot of canning too. Probably 3-400 quarts of potatoes, tomatoes, green beans, sauerkraut, peppers, corn, and a bunch of apple butter and apple cider.

Homer City is about 45 minutes east of me. I have gone to that consignment sale. Lots of extra bidders in the crowd helping out their buddies. Also a lot of that stuff is brought in by a local millionaire who ships it from one auction to another. If he can't sell it their, it will next appear at the Dayton consignment sale. A lot of the same stuff is for sale along 85 in Plumville, so if you miss something at Homer City go to Plumville. I used to buy and sell a lot of tractors, but now that the market has more or less dried up, I don't bother much anymore.
 
There is also a large consignment sale in Somerset on the first day of trout. Its the Luce farm auction. Lots of bidders there too. I'm around johnstown by the way
