Some of you photographers will like this. I know that some of you will say that I should have had my .223 instead of my 35 mm.
Let someone else do it, dont have the heart for it anymore...
Mr Beaver paid no attention to me or the tractor. In fact a NS freight train barreled over the bridge and he wasn't the least bit concerned.
Location: just east of Pine Level NC along the Norfolk Southern main line from Greensboro to Morehead City NC

Don't feel bad, one of my duties on the ranch while growing up was beaver control since they bore into the dams of our stock ponds and eventually created big holes once the cattle caved in their burrows.

As a youth I shot allot of beaver with my Marlin 30/30 but I"m finding myself shooting more with my Nikon these days as well. Nice pics by the way.

They are in the same category as raccoons here. Pests. I guess if they were not flooding the land I try to grow crops on I would be more friendly towards them. I can't even think about how much they have cost me in lost acres and extra miles driven the past few years. Municipality pays a bounty on their tails for any that are shot.

Just read an article in the Detroit News today. Seems a beaver was spotted in the Detroit River dragging a branch into the Rouge River. Maybe they'll build a dam there and flood all of Detroit? Still pretty amazing considering the pollution in those places.

Didn't even think about it..usual 2 or 3 GM
diesels, however, occasionally see one of NS's
Heritage fleet,(locomotives painted up like those
of the railroads that made up NS before the
merger)
Neat little railroad, mostly jet fuel for Seymour
Johnson AFB, corn for hog farms, and phosphate
from the TexasGulf mines down at Aurora. Eastern
NC is a neat place, weather is good, short winter,
little or no snow. Grow a lot of soybeans, sweet
potatoes and tobacco. Not a lot of cattle, but lots
of hogs, turkeys and chickens.

The beavers we got made 3 crop circles in my corn about 100 feet wide I followed the stalks to the creek bank and there was all my corn stalks packed in their dam . Last year they dropped a tree on the line fence and the neighbors cows got out in my Beans. The other neighbor trapps and got quite a few out of the creek this year Ihope they moved on.

Havent seen Brown Mountain Lights. Word is that after the tracks were taken up through the area, the Maco lights didn't show up again.

Bill Radford,

Both great photos. First one is super!

Though I am sure they are just large rats with wide, flat tails.

Beaver, like porcupine and skunk, are one of those animals I'd leave alone if they'd just cooperate with me a little more. Instead of putting their dams where I want them, they put them where they want them. Rude little guys.
