I was just on the Baltimore craiglist and saw an ad for a "vintage wooden animal feeder-Lancaster" and punched it The seller says it would look good on a wall or could be used for feeding, and he found it in a barn he was cleaning up in. Just $80. What a laugh when I started looking at the pictures he posted. It looks like a small seed box from and old drill, complete with a drive sprocket on the end and meters along a shaft on the bottom. Ya gotta laugh....

Yep, there is a spark arrester on ebay (aka air cleaner stack).

But hey, if keeps the tractor from sucking in sparks... that is good, isn't it? :)

You are laughing at people who through no fault of their own are ignorant of the items they are selling. That's not the same as being stupid although one can be ignorant and stupid all at once.

Most of us here on YT have the advantage of having knowledge about machines and tractors that most city people just don't have. And look, there are a fair number of "what is it" questions here.

People have the internet and google these days, I remember my Dad telling me nearly 50 years ago that as long as you know how to read you can teach yourself anything you need, or want, to know. I always figured if I got took on a deal it was my fault for not being prepared.

I envisioned a hog trough like the ones my Dad used to make up from wooden planks.
They always got chewed up on the edges and I sure would like to have a well used one now for a flower box; would be quite unique!

There a "Vintage Vegetable Seeder!!!!" on our local CL. I took a look. It's an old McD corn planter. No seat, no hoppers, sits 6" deep int he ground and is solid rust. He wants $450.00.

Ebay is worse. Some guy has an old pair of kids LL Bean boots for sale for $3750.00.

This plow's on eBay for $2900. At least its not solid rust.
And they did call it a plow.

I agree with you for the most part OldTanker.

We're all ignorant about something in this world,
and anybody with knowledge of that something
really has no more right to laugh at us for it
than we do about their particular ignorance.

BUT -

It can still be humorous!

With our 4H club we do a lot of fairs and public
events with all the farm animals. Being in an
urban sprawl area, we get a LOT of comical
ignorance, but that's why we're there - to teach
and share our knowledge. It makes it fun. And
we'd never fault somebody for it.

The people we actually LAUGH at are the ones that
come through talking loud as if they KNEW what
they're talking about.

It's usually the dad's, the ones who won't ask
questions, instead they'll try to impress their
wives, kids, us, and everyone else around them
with their knowledge.

(once you hear the loud voice, you know you're
dealing with one)

"look there kids, see that chicken, now that's a
rooster, you can tell by that red thing on top of
his head - I bet he lays a lot of eggs"

"that cow over there is a bull, you can tell
because it has horns".

JOB,
No offense taken. JR is right, I was just kidding around because I found the ad humorous. Never intended it to be mean toward the seller... I guess I just found it amusing because the air-intake in on the opposite end of things and keeps "stuff" out - while the spark arrestor keeps "stuff" in.

I find humor easily... and do not mind if others laugh at my mistakes. I will likely be laughing at myself, long before anyone else gets around to it. Have a great day.
