steering motor wobbles

my dad is trying to install power steering on an old tractor. The power steering pump and motor are off an old 140,240,or 340 international tractor. We took it apart to put seals in and now when you start the tractor the steering wheel goes back and forth without us doing anything. It worked before we took it apart.

You will have take it apart again. The splined shaft going into the gerotor is in wrong. I don't remember if it goes getween the lobes or lined up with the lobes but if you get it wrong , they can go wild if you touch it and try to steer. Found that out about 40 some years ago. I presume it is a chr-lyn unit. If Behlen you might get same results if you indexed the roll pins in the wrong side of the actuating mechanism.

I have a file that describes just what to do - the peaks and valleys on the gears and rotor are off. I will fire up the computer tomorrow and reply back with the instructions. It is super easy (you will think that can't be what's wrong) but hard to describe. I guess we will see if I can do it justice.

10 minutes and you will be in business.
