tractors on a train-pics

Yesterday I had to make a trip to Harrisburg and saw a train going past where the tracks parallel the road and got a couple pics of about 8 flatcars of new JD tractors. Also on down the road there is a tractor, I think it is a Farmall Regular, on a hill on display that looks kind of neat as you go past.

Neat pictures; the Railroad built this country. John Deere in Ankeny hasn't used their tracks for several years and right now they are being loaded out on flatbed trailers never to be used again. The main line is also gone, so Ankeny has NO rail service. They think trucks can do it all, and so far, TMC trucking with its never ending supply of drivers from the Community College are keeping up.

Those JD tractors on flatcars remind of back in the 60'-70's of unloading flatcars of JD tractors & equipment. I also unloaded boxcars of JD equipment. Oh for the good old days.

We we down at Horseshoe Curve a couple years back when full train(40 cars) load of big AGCOs came through headed east, pretty inspiring.

Isn't it strange, about everything else is going to higher efficiency and less labor but it's the opposite with trucking and trains.
