Totally o/t but have a question about Mistletoe

When I was a kid growing up in Montgomery Co Tn we would hunt Mistletoe around Christmas and shoot it out of the tree with a 22 rifle. You had to do a lot of searching in the woods to find it. This winter there is Mistletoe everywhere. you can look along the tree line on top of a bluff and see trees covered with it. Have any of the rest of you seen this type of increase in the amount of Mistletoe?

Grows everywhere on the Oak trees here in South Alabama, see it all the time.

Can be a good food source for birds but also can ruin your timber stand.

When I was in high school some friends and I made "simulated mistletoe" in the chemistry lab. We were able to put it to good use too as I recall.

I used to pick it and sell bags of it during xmas season.The place I was getting it from sold and new owners won't let anybody do anything.Does any body know how to get it started?I have a bunch of scrub oak to use for a planting base.
