We got that 4.0 back in the Explorer yesterday. Everything but changing the oil filter, putting oil and antifreeze in it,putting the battery back in and the hood on. I got the oil, antifreeze and battery in today, waited til Jon got home to start it. She started right up. Ran a little rough,we had to switch two pulg wires that were crossed. After that,it ran as smooth and quiet as any junk yard engine you'd ever want to hear. We pulled all the covers before we put it in,all the guides, chains and tensioners looked just like new. There was no sludge or deposits anywhere. No wear in anything.
The hood's on and everything's all zipped up.

Time for a shower,a cold beer and a Tylanol PM. I'd sure like to get at least one peaceful nights sleep before something else hits the fan tomorrow.

Well the bright side is you gotta er done and it could have happened at a busy time of the year. Too much mud out yer way to do much else - right?
Congrats!

Well,at least another 150,000. It's already got 119,000 on it.
I got it from Wandel right down there on Welch Road just off Jefferson by the way. He had several Explorers with front end damage. I was afraid I'd have to go a long ways to get one but it was practically in your back yard.

Glad you got it together. No small job.

I woke up sick this morning.
Son limped home from work in Lansing Saturday morning. Decided his catalytic converter was plugged. Got on the phone, ordered one up. $450 for the right one - $169 for the one size fits all. Arrived at about 1:30pm. Worked on it all afternoon in unheated garage - crawling underneath. Didn"t fit worth a darn. Two trips back to parts place for adapters, more clamps. Up over $200 now. Sawsall paid for itself again. Had to cut and fit about every part. At least we got a nice looking install. Initial road test says it was the problem. Watching him on the computer right now as he heads back to Lansing - he has a tracking device that allows me almost real time tracking on a map. (google amateur radio APRS). He"s getting highway speeds.

I came in showered till I used all the hot water, still cold. Had supper, did chores,
crawled into heated bed. Finally warm, while watching the news. Still feel like cra__. If I don"t feel a whole lot better in the morning, I ain"t going to volunteer for substitute teaching.

He"s running 73mph on the freeway right now. Think we got it solved. Funny how that problem came on all of a sudden.

Not mud - solid state ground, couple inches of fresh snow, temps in the below fewwzing and very breezy. In short darn cold, especially if you're working in unheated polebarn. See my long post above. And oh, my arthritis is kicking up, can hardly use my hands tonite.

They just discontinued my favorite Bufferin. Stopped making it. Then you can drink beer and keep the blood nice and thin. Just watch if you have any surgery schedualed because you'll bleed too much. Then its no beer or aspirin.

Was that in the Blazer? As soon as we got done with the Ford Sunday,we went to my brother's and helped my nephew put the motor back in my son's Blazer. Not THAT was a job. As bad as that Ford was we still had more room to get the motor back in than the Chevy had. The manifolds hit the steering shaft on one side and the heater box on the other at the same time the pan hits the cross member on the frame. Talk about agony!
