I always liked the power of the IH machines and the ease of operating them. The problem was they seemed to put a little too much power in them. Had a friend that was an IH man and his machines would easily out work my Cat machines of comparable size when they were new.
Trouble was, they would eat themselves up after about 3-4 years on a regular basis, and when you rebuilt them it was very expensive. He finally gave up and went with the Cat line on most of His large dozers and loaders. I will say that their small TD-9(?) angle dozers were one of the best on the market though.

I think a 175 is around a 2-2 1/4 yd bucket, so a good size machine(15 ton). It looks in good shape and $4700 is cheap if it's good mechanically but if the undercarriage is worn, that will cost $10,000+ to replace. If everything works properly and the undercarriage has a little life left, you could do some serious work with a machine that size.

That is a very low price for a 175. If you can weld then the undercarriage buildup is not that bad.I weld up rollers, idlers, weld in new sprocket rims, and grousers.
