Marvel Schebler Choke Issue

I recently purchased an Oliver 1655. The seller said he installed a new choke cable. The cable appears set correct. The issue is the tractors starts find with the choke in closed position, but after warming up, when the choke is pushed to open the tractor dies. Tractor will not run with choke in the open position. The needle valves are in good shape. The carb appears to have been worked on before. This Schebler has no number tag on it. It is the model C or type C carb.

Suggestions?

Make sure the choke is not bypassing open and going closed the other way. Saw this on a Massey Ferguson with a broken stop pin.

Could be one of a few different problems. Your air cleaner may need to be serviced and if the cup is empty it can cause that. #2 fuel flow maybe to slow. Does it have the incorrect in line filter in the line if so throw it away that could be the problem. Next pull the carb drain plug out of the bottom of the carb and let it flow for a few minutes. Catch the gas so as to look for water/dirt etc. You need a good steady flow there. Next open up the main jet. You should be able to open it up to the point you have black smoke. If you can open it up so far that you can remove it and still run the carb is clogged up and need to be rebuilt

(quoted from post at 23:50:21 03/12/13) The carburetor is a TSX model. I have the exact number if you need it but I will need to look it up.

J. Schwiebert,

I would appreciate the number. I have yet to remove carb. I see no number tag on it unless it is located on block side of carb. I will need the number to assure the correct rebuild Kit.
