I use photobucket myself, and the last time I logged I noticed there was yet another change which I could up-grade to right then, or wait and it would eventually default to that upgrade. I've not been back since then, so I probably don't know how it works anymore either. I'm getting really tired of dealing with changes that don't improve anything, but you still have to deal with them strictly for the sake of change.

I might have to look for a different photo host.

This is how my photobucket is acting now: when you are logged in, the last picture you posted is big, no code to copy. If you want that one, click on it and code will appear. If you want an older picture, click on the 'thumb' in the middle below, and bunches will appear, click on the code for the one you want. Hope this helps. I find it easier than before, but definitely different!

Hey Gobble do'ntbe sure aabout getting olg All the young techs want to do is prove you dumb that you cannot read there Writing gitrib

I have not seen the need to use any type of on-line photo storage site. I usually only use one computer so why not just store the photos right on it???? I have always done it that way. For backup I just back my files up onto a flash drive a few times each week.

The biggest problem I have with computer/Internet is that the people running/designing them are computer nerds. They just do not realize that everyone else does not live and breath computer stuff. So they are always wanting to change/improve stuff. For the person that just wants to keep thing simple they are the enemy.

I just got on Face book last year. For the first few weeks I was on it a lot looking up old friends and such. Right about then they change their site. It became a total mess to try to use. So I may check my face book page once a week and even then I just spend a few minutes on it. I just do not enjoy being frustrated by how the "new" look/controls work.

I can read very well. I do not understand the little symbols and abbreviations they like to use on computers/sites.

The "beta" photobucket is pretty bad. If you don't have an up-to-date browser with Flash installed, it's probably unusable.

Here's how it works for me (sometimes):

1. In your photobucket library, click on the picture you want to share. That should bring it up in a window by itself.

2. On the right hand side of the page, you'll see a button titled "Image Links". If there's not a menu below it, click to expand.

3. Under "Image Links", you'll see a button marked "HTML code". The button itself will display a bit of the code. Click on that button. It should momentarily say "Copied", then go back to the HTML.

4. If the button said "Copied", all you should need to do is go back to your YT post and paste it in using Ctrl-V (or right-click/Paste, or whatever you use).

5. If the button doesn't say "Copied" when you click it, then you may not have Flash installed. As far as I know, it won't work without Flash. If you right click on the button, you should see something like "About Adobe Flash Player". If you don't, then Flash isn't installed.

6. It didn't seem to work right for me until I collapsed and re-expanded the Image Links menu. You might try that as well.

Good luck!

If you can muddle through it a time or two, the new Photo Bucket is really pretty nice. I finally had to accept the "new" version, and haven't been lead down all the social media lanes, sine. I fought with Photo Bucket for close to a year, before I started using the new version, now its almost easier then the older one.
About all I can tell you is go ahead and accept the new version.

Just go to modern view and have the picture visable on your desktop, click on upload photos and then left click on the pic and drag it over to the rectangular box on the left of browse...then click on upload.........then click on continue before previewing!

I know exactly what you are talking about, it used to be easy to copy and paste the link to the photo, in the string of code that you type in the field of entry box when making a post.

I don't like the PB site, is it Beta, or what I just don't care for it, however, I can still retrieve the direct link, you have to select share and then try and right click or something, it does come up, the link, but there is an extra step involved or something.

I thought you don't need the host site like PB and can post directly off your PC here now, I've never done that, but it can't be any more difficult than the other way.

The new photobucket is a disaster.
I've had an account there for ten years and hate to use it now.
On the other hand, you guys who are using YT as a host aren't helping things either.
To begin with it costs our hosts a bundle to run your pics. Plus if you haven't noticed your picture laden posts slow the board way down.
You really ought to get another host.

If the photos are in your computer, here's what I do

What I do First, change over to the modern view, this allows you to easily add captions to different photos. Then after you have entered what you want in the message box, go to the bottom of the page where it says ADVANCED POSTING TOOLS click on BROWSE which should bring up a box from your computer. On mine, I have to click on PICTURES on the left side of the page to open up a page with all the pictures on the computer. Then I select the picture I want to upload which enters the code for the picture in the lower left box. Then click on UPLOAD and the picture will appear in the little box on the right. THEN you have to click on CONTINUE or the picture will be lost. If you want to upload more pictures click BROWSE again. Then UPLOAD and don't forget CONTINUE. repeat for more pictures. Then scroll back up to the body of the message see where it says put your cursor in front of [img] hit enter a couple times and it will give you a space where you enter the caption do that for all the photos and you will be ready to submit. IF WHEN YOU HIT SUBMIT you don't see the pictures no praying or hoping or wishin is gonna make them magically appear. YOU did something wrong go back and try again. There may be an easier way but I don't know what it is.

If your using a scanner You need to ask somebody else

All my pictures i post here are on Photobucket. It takes some learing when they change it, but I think it's easier now to move stuff around to different albums. I guess I don't have any problems with it, now that I've figured it out.

Hello gitrib,

Why not post from your computer?
Make a folder for your pictures. They will all be in the same folder after you put then there.
Then, when it is time to post them, go to the folder for one or more. I'm thinking that your hard drive has enough room for them?.
If not a USB stick, or an SD card would work as well. That is how I do it.
Guido.

I gave up with their newest beta version. Then went to delete my photos, which they didn't allow. All I could figure out to do was shrink them so small nobody could see anything.

Link is gone, with a little more time I'll forget the name. No idea what didn't work with my computer, but I don't much care. Worked fine until they "upgraded" their storage.

Hello Graydon,

Just read your email asking for help with Photobucket.

Here is <a href="http://www.ytmag.com/cgi-bin/viewit.cgi?bd=ttalk&th=1259830">a link with step-by-step instructions on using Photobucket</a> to post a photo on any of these forums.

Always good to hear from you.

Hope this helps.

BS I have over 2000 pics on my Windows photo galery. Just find pic and upload in my post. Also just plug in my camera chip or an older disc, bring it up and brouse/upload. From my camera chip to your screen, have a nice day. It sure was here at Clinton Camp Farm, Cen. NY

ACG,
I just came back here to page 3 to get the link to gitrib's post so I could send it to the photobucket help line I've been emailing with.
I am thinking you don't understand how photo hosting actually works.
Suffice it to say I am not seeing your photo on your computer. I am seeing it hotlinked off of the YT website.
Click on the link below. You will see where your picture is actually stored.
