It's kinda funny, well, not really, at how much you forget. I used to know what half dozen local stations played as a "theme song" but can't remember any of them. I do know that one station locally and some one or two high power night time stations, would play "Steel Guitar Rag", "Take it away, Leon."

Have a station here in the Puget Sound that used to play George Jones Finally Friday at 5pm every Friday. Haven't heard it in a few months. Used to tune in just for that.

Well, I think it was WBAP, Ft. Worth, a clear channel (50,000 watts) station that used to lead off with Buck Owens' "I've Got A Tiger By The Tail" every night at 9:30 CST. I remember leaving my welding class, and telling my classmate/rider how I'd love to hear a Buck Owens song, then punching the button on the radio in my '68 Chevelle at exactly 9:30 sharp, just as Don Rich's opening licks kicked off the old Buck Owens classic. He couldn't believe the "coincidence", but I knew I could set my watch by it every night.

There was a station in St. Louis, on the low end of the AM dial, that played the "Steel Guitar Rag" as an opening song. Skeetch Yaney (sp) was the DJ, and he played a lot of songs by "Yours truly, Skeetch Yaney".

There was an old station here in the Fox River Valley out of Appleton WI. that used to sigh off with playing "The Old Beer Bottle." This must have been in the late 50s or early 60s. Think the djs name was Bob Bandy. Darn I am getting old.
