The horse farm near us in nj

this is a quick picture I took today of the Lana Lobell horse farm that is for sale near us in nj,It has been for sale for at least 5 years, You cant really tell by my pictures,but the place is deteriorating.There is 4 farms all connected,I got pictures of 2. There is holes in the roofs of 2 barns,and you cant see it in my picture,but the old house in the last picture has a big hole in the roof.
We have lived in this area since 1985,and its sad to see it go downhill.Ithink Lana Lobeel was somekind of famous horse,Jay in NY might know.I posted this for sale sign for Jay many years ago.,the sign is still up many years later.

I live west of you in Kingwood Twsp. there are a lot of horse farms around here for sale. None quite as big as lana lobell.Horse market really took a hit with the down turn in the economy.

I wonder if that's the place the guy I know in Kingwood travels to with his big baler to make mushroom mulch. I farm some ground in Kingwood, too. I'm just over the border in Alexandria.
 
And with some states limiting how you can ship a horse to slaughter and the de-funding of USDA inspectors for equine slaughter houses.
 
Thats not good, K.Hovananian loves land like that to develop, I worked on many of their sites tearing up old farm land, something I hated, though I liked my job running a D8, people just don't see the places like this in NJ, there must have been a time that most of NJ was littered with places like that.
 
took a look at the website. Beautiful 172 acre piece. Asking price was $30 mill in 2007, $25mil a year ago. With a split approval for 9 (maybe 10 lots), a developer is looking at having $2mil+ per lot in purchase price if the property goes for $18-20mil. At $20 mil, that $116k per acre. WOW! don't know what local real estate goes for there or what the taxes would be, but I guess if you have to ask, you can't afford it. :lol:
