Pease remind me why?????????????

Please remind me.

This weekend my brother visited the farm to pick up his fancy deer stand.

Unfortunately it was gone. Stolen by some trespassing thief, violating my property rights, and my neighbors property rights, stealing things that are not his and carrying a gun and posing as a licensed? Lawful? Hunter…..not the thief that he truly is.

Please remind me again, why I am supposed to fight for his rights to carry a gun? Knowing he is likely to enter my property illegally and steal my property, posing as a lost hunter?

Yes, if the time comes, that the citizens need to rise up and take back our nation, will this scuzzball, lying, thieving, no account trashy hoodlum fight for our constitution?

If you trust him…and want to be his team mate…..you believe in the tooth fairy.

You cannot hold it against him..he probably was raised by a poor Single Mother who just had a bad time, with Working and living on Food Stamps, etc..

Remember, he could not be scolded or Punished by a parent or corrected while in School, as he does have certain Civil Rights...

It is getting close to time for him to learn the Ultimate Lesson..the School of Hard knocks is OPEN...

Let it be KNOWN that you are prepared to...
Put some Buckshot in his arse...

Ron..

Rather than Ranting on here, why didn't you contact your local law enforcement, and let them dig into the situation, since you know who "he" is, and aparantly have spoken to him, as you refer to him as a lost hunter?

Before I can reasonably respond, there are issues I am not clear on. I totaly understand not confrunting the thief since he was armed but if you or your neighbor saw the armed thief did you make an attempt to follow and get a license number off his vehicle? If there was no vehicle it must be another neighbor in which case you probably recconized him. Please fill in more details so we will know what we are discussing.

Blaming the theft of a deer stand on a hunter is like blaming the theft of copper wiring on electricians. Wouldn't surprise me a bit to see roving bands of thieves going around deer country knowing full well there is scrap steel around every tree in the forest. If you find them and get them convicted of a felony then they will never be gun owners again (if they ever were). And I'm ok with that.

If you didn't see the thief(s?) how do you know he was carrying a gun? Doesn't sound like his aim was getting a deer.

I thought the hunters around here were gonna start shooting at each other last year. They were taking each other's stands down. One guy got his back, then it was stolen a couple weeks later. Not a lot of folks.

You don"t have to fight for anyones right to carry a gun, you can lay down and give up.

Edd,

1. Most gun owners are law abiding people. They are not going to tresspass or steal things.

2. You are in KY. Most likely some trailer trash boy was poaching and trespassing and saw it. I lived in KY for 4 years, saw those guys with my own eyes. Heck a few from the Shepardville area shot up some US Army trucks ON FT KNOX in the training area because they were scaring the deer away while I was there.

3. My area of MN is much the same.

4. Yea, they will stand up and fight if need be because they see nothing wrong with what they did. Be that "the South is Going to Rise Again" thing.

I'm not too far from you. I've had several instances where "hunters" trespassed on my ground. Once I got tired enough of it happening and did something about it, I found out it was mostly "city folks" that just assumed that a patch of undisturbed woods meant no one cared if they hunted it or not. Had one guy say almost those exact words to me. After I demonstrated just how much I cared, staked out the popular entry and exit from my place, called the law when someone entered, and had his truck impounded, his gun impounded, and his sorry butt hauled off to the county justice center for (1) trespassing (2) hunting out of season (3) destruction of private property (4) firing a rifle in the direction of several houses only a few hundred yards away, he might have changed his opinion somewhat.

Funny how word travels fast once you have the first illegal hunter arrested. What was once a common problem ended once word got out about what happened.

No, I shouldn't have had to take such an active role in getting the law enforced, but it is what it is.

This is a really mixed up post.
First of all, how do you know the thief had a gun and why does that even matter - a thief is a thief?
But more importantly;
Would you take away a person's 1st amendment right to free speech for thievery?
Or his 4th amendment protection from search and seizure say maybe for perjury?
Maybe strip him of his 3rd amendment rights for not recycling?
Being stupid or bad does not disenfranchise a person from protection under the constitution.

You aren't fighting for HIS right to keep and bear arms. You fight for YOUR right! Let them take the 2nd and they'll take the 1st, 4th and so on. Yes, there are lying, thieving scum out there. But if you don't fight for YOUR RIGHT to keep and bear, then what will you do when the lying thieves have the guns and you can't get one? You think you're a victim now? Just wait until they know you don;t have any means to protect yourself!

had to be a hunter !!!!! nobody else steals !! you're useing the same knee jerk reaction as those that blame the guns for all the killing,...couldn't just be some thief...

..... Remember, he could not be scolded or Punished by a parent or corrected while in School, as he does have certain Civil Rights...

Back in the late 70's I saw 2 kids on 1 bike riding down on our suburban street. Stopped at a house, one kid went in the backyard, other kid rode off. Little while later, kid came out of the yard riding a bike.

I ran in the house, got my car keys, yelled to the wife to call the cops and took off after him. Pulled the car in front of him, stopped, got out and confronted him. He said it was a friend's bike. He was about 12 yrs old or so. I told him to get in the car and put the bike in the trunk. He was shaking pretty good. I went home, waited for the cops. When the cop showed up, I got out and talked to him while the kid sat in my car. Cop just smiled and said "I''ll take care of it."

Cop got out, opened my car door and grabbed the kid by the arm and pulled him out. Made him spreadeagle against his car, frisked him, put cuffs on him, told him he was going to jail. Kid was just about in tears. Cops said thanks to me with a wink and drove off.

Later found out that they put him in a cell until his mom came. They said she was NOT happy (with her son) and had thanked the cops. The cop who told me this said they learned how to handle most of these kid crimes to make the most positive impact on the individual.

Now, what do you think would happen today if that same situation ocurred?

1 - I'd be in jail for kidnapping
2- Arresting cop would be disciplined for touching the kid
3 - Mom would have been livid (at the cops) in front of her son at the station
4 - Mom would sue the city (and me)
5- Son would then think HE was the victim and grow up continuing to steal bikes and move on to cars, etc. Mom would continued to defend him and either a) blame society when he finally goes to prison, b) wonder "Where did I go wrong?

First, I am a hunter and a gun owner. Bet I have spent a lot more days hunting than 99% of the people in America. Own more guns than 99%.

Bet i have seen more creeps posing as legit hunters than 99%.

I did not see this scuzball. if I had I would have run him or her off or called the law.

Perp had to walk in, no road access except past my house, had to trespass on me and several neighbors.

Assume he was hunting, not just out for a stroll, a mile from a road, and crossing three parts of posted private property.

In kentucky we have just given felons back the right to vote.

My father was a small business man and he taught me long ago that the only person that gets mad when you ask for credit referances...is the guy who has bad credit. I, as a gun owner am all for careful background checks for gun purchases.

No, I shouldn't have had to take such an active role in getting the law enforced, but it is what it is.

Why shouldn't you? Do you think the police should post officers every 50 yards around the perimeter of your property? Do you think they somehow magically know when someone trespasses on your property with the intent to poach?

What is it that people want? If the law isn't right there catching the bad guy when he sets foot on your property, they're lazy and useless, but if you see a patrol car drive by, they're overbearing tyrants.

Spent many great days way up around Grand Rapids, Duluth and Orr hunting grouse and woodcock. Great hunting but did not look to good for farming? Southern MN is great crop land...right?

Roughly the Southern third of MN is productive farmland. Quality and suitability drops off rapidly North of I94, except for the Western area, Red River Valley. Of course, that description is not an absolute. Not much farming in NE MN. Lakes, tourism, mines.

If I read that right, you have your guns and as long as no one bothers you it's fine for the gov't to take everyone elses?
