Heyseed 02-17-2013 10:39:15 69.19.14.23 Report to Moderator	I have an older (17 years) Stihl that has always started fine and done a ton of cutting. The last two times out it will start fine, idles fine but would die when I gasses it. The air filter is clean and it has a pretty new plug. It did this yesterday, I cleaned the carb area off with carb cleaner, and blew any built up crud off with air gun. It then ran fine for the rest of the day. Today it started out fine but is doing the same thing again. It acts like it floods as soon as you squeeze the throttle and dies. But will start right back up and idle as long as I let it. There is a screen on fuel inlet of the carb that clogs up. It is tiny , about the diameter of a dime or smaller. Usually I try to clean it and drop and lose it and end up replacing it. Just hook it with a small wire and it will come out the filler hole. While you have it out look the line over real well. They go bad with age and fuel. [Reply]  [No Email]

Has the saw been sitting long? Maybe dirty carb internally. [Reply]  [No Email]

They don't fare well with alcohol- get alcohol free gas for all your small engines, if you have it available somewhere in your area. [Reply]  [No Email]

If it were my saw, i would turn out the low speed mixture screw about 1-8th of a turn. There are 2 mixture screws. The high and low. the low is a little lean. [Reply]  [No Email]
