Oops! Maybe that's why

I needed to plow a strip today. Got the Farmall H all hitched up to the plow and went up to where I needed to plow. Started the row and everying was going good. Then the left wheel started to slip a little, figured a tap of the brake would get her plowing again. Well, that made her bog down, nearly stalling the tractor. Then I remembered I still had her in 4th.

Thought probably it was frozen too hard here, but I went out and tried it. Came back, drove in the barn, let chisel plow down and heard a snap/ping! There was a pile of frozen dirt that had fallen off the plow previously, and one tooth came down squarely on that. Now I get to do a little work before I try next time!

Last time I tried to do much of any thing in the ground up here at the Lake it was still frozen down about 2 inches or so

Saw a big Case-IH on rubber tracks with a chisel Saturday outside North Vernon Indiana. Looked like a good day for it to me.

Ya I live down in a valley so that does not help as for having frozen ground LOL. My mom lives up on top of the hill close to me and we can have 10 degree differences in the winter
