I am ready for some spring weather and some baby calves on the ground like this mama and her 2 little ones from last year.

Great picture. I agree with you.I'll take more pics like this if you have em'. This helps get through the Winter blahs. LOL

I think my nephew will get real busy in 2-3 weeks when his Angus start calving. However, he lives in ND so there won't be any green grass around - just cold and some snow.

Case e, Have you made any unusual plans for caring for the twins? What kind of bag does this cow carry? I never had twins but knew they existed. I imagine it'd take a lot of TLC as one calf on mine keep mama dried up.

This year I have been feeding 14% creep twice a day and have noticed that my first year mothers (heifer's first calf) are self weaning at 5 months. This is great as it will surely reduce the stresses on the calves. They had nice bags for heifers too.

Nice pic. I think the little guys and gals are so cute.

I will give momma alot of extra feed and let them care for both if she claims them, at two or three months I will wean off just one and let the other go until I wean all the calves.

Three since Christmas, but one died last week when the heifer calved overnight.I went to check her in morning and calf was halfway out and already dead.

Sounds like a plan. I had a milk cow that was a super surrogate mother once. Bag was big enough for my family's needs and 2 calves.
