John, with you growing up in Shiloh, and if I remember correctly, you have or had an Uncle that lived near 158 and 161. My question is, did you know the Florreich's (spelling )Ed, Millie, Mike, and a couple other kids? They lived between what is now 158 and where the Metro link station is. There farm bordered the railroad track that had that arched wood bridge across it.

Steve, yes I had an uncle that lived where you're thinking. And yes Eddie was our mail man. Mike his son I don't know where he ended up after the Base bought them out.

John, I grew up between Hecker & New Athens, IL. I now live near Waterloo. Mom & Dad both grew up East of Belleville. As for Mike Florreich, he passed away a couple of years ago. He had been living and working in Valley Park, Mo.

Steve if you don't mind me asking who were your mom and dad and where about did they live east of Belleville?

Mom was a Hemmer from home. Live across from what is Belleville east high school at that time 1920-30's.
School location was a golf course then. In the 30's Grandpa bought a farm next to the Freedom Farm on the Jefferson road between Belleville & Freeburg.
Dad was a Ruhmann. He grew up on a farm along 177, straight across the highway from where Edward's Case dealer ship is now

Not sure about the cemetery. there's an old drive way that goes to the top of the hill. There was a tree and a well there. I haven't been past the for a couple of years. I'll look the next time I'm in Belleville in the daylight
