Whats the weirdest thing you've seen with a hitch?

How about an Amish buggy with a Reise Hitch, pulling a boat.

Several years ago, I saw a Pinto station wagon pulling a travel trailer. Some miles down the road I saw same vehicle. This time trailer was on its side and the Pintos rear end was up in the air about four feet, and the driver was standing there scratching his head

One day a friend of mine called and asked if I'd mind hauling his daughter's Honda scooter home, it had broke down on her way to work. I told him sure, be there asap. I guess he thought I'd bring my pickup to haul it. Instead I pulled my 'Wing out and latched my cycle trailer on it. Went by and picked him up then went to the DQ and got her ride.
We got a bunch of laughs and thumbs up on the way back to his house.

I haven't seen them down here with a boat yet, but I did see one with a Radio Flyer tied to the back end with baling twine- the one with the high wooden sides.....

Harley pulling a trailer or the Wing and sidecar rig pulling trailer aren"t unusual to me after going to shafty rallies for a few years- and the WW2 R75 with sidecar pulling ammo trailer isn"t really unusual according to lady bystander- was "just like the ones at home in 1940". Horse drawn buggy with hitch? stop by Green or Grant county , Wisconsin where Amish are and you"ll see a few buggies with hitchs. Comment previous about silly Smart Cars with hitchs- I see one when I stop by bank, have seen several with large 2 inch reciever hitchs-- it"s what the Smart Cars owners use for the bike racks and cargo racks as well as the little Harbor Freight/Menards 4 foot trailers that are needed to hual laundry bags in the basic trunkless stubbies. Maybe a airplane with a reciever hitch would be "wierd"- but I"ve seen a couple, one was a Swietzer biplane crop duster, the other was something like a big Piper Cub that got a tube with a wagon tongue shoved in it to be use for hauling it around behind a farm tractor. Hitch"s are handy for lots of things, how "wierd" a towing implement will keep me amused for another hour or so. NO coffee yet. RN

The Pontiac Vibe could pull a small trailer just fine, assuming it wasn"t too heavy. If the Vibe has the larger engine, it would handle quite a bit of weight with ease.

I have two Vibes and really like them. They get right around 30 mpg and both have been ultra-reliable. The one with the larger 4 cylinder engine from the Camry is also pretty quick!

Do I have a trailer hitch on either of them? No, I use my F350 when I need to pull a trailer.

I pulled an empty Killbros 375 gravity wagon with a Chevette for about a mile. Once I got it going the little Vette pulled it but I almost had whiplash by the time I got there. Jim

I never saw a port-a-potty with a spring spension seat. HeHe. It even comes with one of those hot air hand driers on the lower RH side of the vehicle.

You ought to try coming up on a buggy in a fog at nite. It is a wonder more of tehm aren't it. They are a nusiance on the road.

We had a guy come pick up his tractor one day at the Deere dealer. Nobody noticed what he was pulling it until he getting in to leave. He had a 2 wheel drive open station John Deere 5310 tractor on a 16 foot trailer. Best part, hooked to a Buick LeSabre. The funny part is that the bumper nor the trailer jack was draging the ground when he left the parking lot.

What's wrong with the vibe having a hitch? We have a Toyota Matrix (same) with a hitch. I was delivering loads of hay with it, 40 bales per load almost every week for a couple of years, the trailer and bales came in under 2000 lbs. Its hauled a 1500 lb trailer on four 1600 mi trips and one 3200 mi trip as well.

Not gonna haul our 27 ft flatdeck with it obviously.

Only about 30 bales on this load, we would keep around that when travelling at highway speeds. Up to 42 bales when travelling slow and local.

a truck passed me on the freeway a while back with cultivator sweeps tied to his bumper like this.

don't know what it means.

I pulled a 28 ft. pontoon boat with a Bronco II about 20 miles once. I had to start breaking before I started in order to get stop by the next stop sign. 1st 15 miles or so flat straight road, the last 5 wouldn't do that ever again.

Well, now that you mention a buggy, saw an old Amish gent with a trailer hitch on his 2 wheel - one horse buggy. Few days later, saw him pulling a small 2 wheel (rubber tired) utility trailer with it. Few days later, an aluminum rowboat on a boat trailer with outboard and fishing rods sticking out. Also on rubber tires.

Astro van with at least a 28ft. camper and a 19ft. Ranger bass boat behind it at a ramp at Ky.Lake. Had to be a NIll redneck Ky. would have used a Ranger.

We had trailer hitches on our Pinto wagon, a VW Beetle (autostickshift)and I saw a picture a while back of a gooseneck hitch plate on the tailgate of an old S-10 IN USE. But the best was a customer at CT who left with 2 tons of wood pellets split between his Pontiac T 1000 and a 4 X 4 foot trailer trailing sparks (only after he signed a waiver). He did that rather than pay 20 bucks to have them delivered.

Saw this at a car show a couple of years ago. Must be for pulling a big trailer. Note dual exhaust must have a big engine for pulling the big trailer.

Here's my Civic pickup with a hitch. Had to borrow a planter. What's that phrase? You go to farm your 10 acres with the pickup you have, not the pickup you wish you had!

Some people mis-under-estimate what their pickup can do.

Guys, Back in 1987 I helped move a 9 tower Valley tow-able Sprinkler about 35 miles. Used the Gooseneck hitch in the back of my pickup as a platform to put a 4 ft vertical extension to pull each of the 9 spans. The Valley Tower assembly has a female 2 in ball receptacle that holds a standard 2 in trailer ball on the next tower.
Anyway, simply towed the towers with my pickup, and we had two guys with a long pipe thing manually steer each tower around the corners. A couple, we were able to veer, or swing wide to make it work. Pulled them about 35 mph.

Dad used to have hitch on his Cadillac Sedan DeVille... for pulling his inboard/outboard boat to vacation destinations.

Was behind a brand new Subaru in traffic the other night (no plates, still had the 10 day MN license permit in the back window). There was a big, fancy, high dollar, but empty bike rack hanging out of the hitch. Not unusual to see a bike rack on a Subaru but in the middle of winter? The rack was caked with road salt and 2" of frozen slush. I assume it was all about looks though because the back of the car was also already covered with tree hugger and abundant bumper stickers...big surprise.

Also...always have to laugh when I see the folks with the big 2500 diesel pickups hauling their bikes on a hitch mounted bike rack...especially when the box is empty.
