Old truck mounted snowblower

I have never seen anything quite like this. I have seen blowers on newer heavier dump trucks but this setup looks very interesting. I am not much good at guessing the age of old trucks but I am thinking this may be from the 40s? Neat piece of history anyhow.

They used to be a fad here for a while for pickups, (link below) until you have something block the augers and trying to unblock them or replace shear pins in the cold on the side of the road was not fun.So most people went back to plows, at worst you would bend a bracket or loose a spring, but could still plow. Link below shows they are still avail though.

Being a New Yorker you have certainly heard of Walter Sno-Fighters?
I imagine there are some pictures to be found on line. I have a couple of books on them and they tried everything. Years ago.

I was at a consignment auction 16-18 years ago and a local fellow had bought an older gmc plow truck from a airport. It had a 10' blade with a 10'-12' swing out extension blade with a propeller to help convay the snow. The truck had a v12 and the propeller had a v12 powering it also. I think originally called a twin six.

Remember a Sno Go that the city had many years ago. Was mounted on an IH truck from late 30's, 4wd conversion. Main use was cleaning up parking lots & business district streets. Had truck loader chute on it, could load a 10 yard dump in about 20 seconds.
Anyway, city decided to replace it around 1970 or so. No trade in value, so sold it on sealed bids, Local road const guy got it for scrap price bid. When the new one ate a concrete lot divider in first snow storm, he rented the old one back to city at hourly rate. Got his investment back several times over in a month. Was still in use 15 years later.

Well,......I can see a need for it in Boonville, the snow capital of New York State!
Seems like a good price.

zach, that's about a 1947 +/- a couple years, ford. marmon harrington built a lot of 4wd conversions. dad had a 1947 ford with the driver's door missing. it was our first farm dump truck. years later i put the box on a '68 C40 chevy. used it until one time the cylinder came up through the bottom of the box. neat truck.
